RAW Takes It Upon Itself to Chop Some Firewood for WrestleMania...
How’s It Going, Enthusiasts!
Not bad for a Monday, if I may say. Definitely had worse ones.
This week, we got a few things to chat about, mostly in the WWE Universe so let’s
discuss, shall we?
First up, The Rock is getting both good and bad responses of late.
His “Rock Concert” didn’t do much for SmackDown ratings but, Tennessee
welcomed him nonetheless. There’s been some talk that his taking liberties is
rubbing some the wrong way. He’s definitely invoking more Attitude Era Tone
than the PG one these days. Some say, the rules should apply to all involved,
especially post-Vince McMahon. Personally, my feathers weren’t ruffled but I
definitely have picked up on how the Rock’s appeal isn’t what it used to be.
Not sure that’s a bad thing, per se though.
The crux of current times is that there’s a lot of push for a kinder,
gentler society and those of us who like it rough and tumble, aren’t exactly
fully on board but we have to be respectful enough or at the very least cognizant
of the sentiment that doesn’t support or endorse toxicity. I think this is what
The Rock is running into. This is why the move to go heel went into effect.
Shit talk and swagger are considered “bad behavior” these days but when done
right, it’s a lot of fun. We’ll see if he finds a happy medium.
Some signs of hope could be found on his appearance on Drew
Barrymore’s talk show. He’s getting a lot of praise for requesting consent to
pick her up which is more or less what I’m talking about. We have to be more considerate
of triggers and inappropriate interactions and whatnot. Outside of the WWE Universe,
The Rock remembers his manners so everyone might as well relax.
In other news, Becky Lynch got some exposure as she was able to celebrate
St. Patrick’s Day at the White House. A picture of her with President Biden is
circulating the interwebs. I don’t have much to say about it but it is kinda cool
to see one of ours get some national notoriety. Good for her!
In lighter news, Cody Rhodes continues to solidify his status as
the resident Babyface as he is scheduled to attend a kid’s birthday party in
June and he’s got some good PR floating around in the form of a clip of him
delighting a young fan. It’s hard to hate it. I’m glad Rhodes is getting the
attention and respect he deserves. I never minded the work he did and so what
if he’s an “Oops Baby”. Just means his parents smooshed when then they thought
they were too old. It can happen to anybody.
In more concerning news, Raquel Rodriguez is out of action for the
time being. She has a skin condition that keeps flaring up. It’s too bad.
Things like that seem like the Gods having their way. I hope she finds a viable
solution and makes it back to action. Things like that always suck but they
build character. I hope she’s better for it in the end.
In any case, that brings us to tonight’s RAW. It looks like
the B-Squad gets action tonight in hopes of one day moving up to the A-Squad. Alpha
Academy gets some screen time against the New Day for a shot at the Tag Team Ladder
Match for WrestleMania. DIY and The Creed Brothers are doing the same. As is
the unlikely pairing of R-Truth and The Miz against Indus Sher. Nia Jax and Becky
Lynch are going to put their beef back on the fire and Cody Rhodes will have a
response to last week’s “Rock Concert”.
We’ll see how everybody does. Unofficial watch party starts at 8pm
PST. Pick your platform and I’ll see you there.
See You in a Bit,
-Nicole Alexis (^_~)
