SmackDown Keeps the WrestleMania Fires Stoked...

Happy Friday, Enthusiasts!

This week seemed a little long to me so, I’m glad it’s over. We got a few things to chat about before we get into tonight’s offerings so, let’s get started.

First up, we’ll begin in the Realm of AEW. The bad news first as it appears Lana/CJ Perry and Rusev/Miro have decided to uncouple. It seems like their relationship was fairly open-ended though they are married. It doesn’t sound like any poor conduct is really to blame. They aim to remain friends and work together but they seem to want to explore other people. I guess they know enough about each other and are just ready to move on. It happens and I’m glad they’re mature enough to acknowledge that. Let’s wish them well in their new personal endeavors.

Another bit of AEW news is that Mercedes Moné aka Sasha Banks debuted over there this week on Dynamite. So far, the reception isn’t the best according to reports. Ratings didn’t really tick up and commenters weren’t impressed with her Babyface promo so, we’ll see how this goes. Word is that she probably signed a multi-year contract so it sounds like they’ll be some tweaking as they go.

I personally feel that WWE is better suited to present her but she appears to need to see what else is out there for herself which is fine. She has every right to explore her options and find a fit that works well for her. I just wouldn’t be surprised that in all her searching, she ends up where she started, more or less.

In the WWE Universe, among the many things going on, one that sticks out is that there may be a quiet push to return Brock Lesnar to action. The general fan consensus on this one is that for that to happen effectively, Lesnar would probably have to issue a formal apology first. Something about that seems unlikely to me. I could be wrong but from what I hear about his public conduct, I can easily see him not wanting to acknowledge “the past”. Granted, the current allegations are fairly recent but given how this guy rolls with his persona, it’s doubtful he owns up to anything.

Personally, I don’t need to see Lesnar return but if they find a clever way to do it, I wouldn’t be upset either. It’s hard to say what he did and I wouldn’t be surprised if he partook in “intimate delectations” but given the nature of the allegations, one has to accept that to a certain degree there was consent. It’s up to the Feds to crack down on the implications of sex trafficking. I just don’t have enough information to pass much judgment but I will respect public sentiment. And that’s all I’ll say about that.

And so, that brings us to tonight’s SmackDown. Looks like The Rock will serenade us this evening. Pretty Deadly will get some screen time and battle the New Catch Repulic. Bayley will get to ask WTF in the ring against Dakota Kai. Randy Orton looks to teach Grayson Waller a more in-depth lesson. Dragon Lee will continue to get used to the big time courtesy of Santos Escobar and Rey Mysterio will get back into action by picking up where he left off with the reinstated Legado Del Fantasma.

Could be a fun one tonight. Unofficial watch party starts at 8pm PST. Pick your platform and play along if you’re willing and able.

See You in a Bit,

-Nicole Alexis (^_~)
