RAW Has to Deal with a Lot of SummerSlam Fallout...
How’s It Going Enthusiasts?
Well, it was quite the SummerSlam this year, wasn’t
it π I was expecting surprises but none quite like Brock
Lesnar returning. Though, kinda par for the WWE course it definitely makes it a
bit uncomfortable to participate. However, if John Cena ever wanted someone “big
and bad” to slay before retiring, Lesnar is it. Yet, that’s not all that
happened so let’s touch on the high points before we contemplate the giant “?”
I think for me, Night 1 wins just due to lack of
controversy. Or at least, the controversy was scripted. Night 2 makes going
forward very hazy but it’s not impossible. As for Match of the Nights, most liked
the main events in both cases. CM Punk vs. GUNTHER was just what I expected it
to be. Punk getting glory for 2 minutes before Lord Seth Rollins comes in to
show him how it’s really gonna be. That’s great for the Future.
Cody Rhodes vs. John Cena was great, in my opinion.
It had all the ups and downs. I was a little upset at the fickleness of the Crowd
as Rhodes got undeserved boos but what are you gonna do? The WWE Universe is
not known for its civility. I did anticipate someone crashing the party but I
have to admit Brock Lesnar was not on the radar. The reports are saying that
this was at Cena’s request but I have reservations about the validity of that.
I think they’re trying to calm things down before they start up but many commenters
have made up their minds. They don’t like it but of course when you look at the
company affiliations, you could still say it’s par for the course.
For some, this is the last straw. They can’t morally
support the move and have thus decided to get their wrestling fix from AEW and
the other promotions. At least the controversy remains internal as opposed to
morally objectionable. Personally, I’m not that turned off but WWE has given
themselves the task of validating the move. Not sure that they can exactly pull
it off. It’s possible, though. Yet, it would entail bringing the taboo subjects
up for discussion. Triple H may have to go more “Authority” again and it would
have to be the Big Bad WWE having to deal with their whiny, righteous roster
again when it comes to designated Faces anyway. It’s familiar territory but not for the past 10-15 years or so. Not sure how the kids will take it but the older
cats like myself will remember when.
Yet, I understand the thinking. If John Cena is back
to being the Good Guy, Lesnar is the believable Bad Guy. He’ll have to play it
up more and it would work if he was standoffish in interviews and whatnot. Just
not sure how it plays socially. The kids aren’t willing to deal with the
assholish behavior these days and I don’t blame ‘em. It sucks. But learning how
to face it does build character and if you haven’t noticed, assholishness hasn’t
gone away. It’s just masked more as manipulative behavior. The real assholes
make you think it’s you these days. Careful out there. Actions still speak
louder than words.
In any case, we’ll see how they make this work. It
was a stellar SummerSlam besides that. I’m sure they may be trying to feel out
whether they can mend any bad feelings, if they exist, with The Rock. We don’t
need Travis Scott but The Rock coming out would have gone over WAY better than
Lesnar. Live and learn, I suppose.
In any case that, brings us to RAW’s Fallout. We
can anticipate that Rusev and Sheamus will try to distract us with another Hoss
Fight. Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair will perform their fallout duties as
they have a rematch for the Tag Team Titles. And Lady Becky Lynch will speak to
us of what the future will really be. She’s also in Happy Gilmore 2 if
you haven’t seen it already. I think it gets the record for cameos. Everybody
is in it.
I’m going to try to catch up around 9pm PDT. This was
another busy day with other frustrations so, I’ll be there when I’m there but I’ll
be there. Join the fun if you can relate.
See You in a Bit,
-Nicole Alexis (^_~)
