RAW Suggests You Use Your Turn Signal to Merge into the FastLane...
Greetings, Enthusiasts!
I do believe we have found ourselves at another
Go-Home Show and this time for FastLane.
Now, since FastLane is more like a filler PPV until WrestleMania, I’m
not going to harp on how the build has been so-so because this event doesn’t
need top billing. This is another space
where some experimentation can be had.
Generally, the lesser PPVs should be utilized as times to “let it hang
out”, so to speak. WrestleMania,
Royal Rumble, SummerSlam and maybe Survivor Series, those are times to “kill it”
but right now, it’s more about having fun.
So, for tonight, not much is advertised but what is isn’t all that
surprising. Naturally, Triple H will
have a response for the very rude but distinguished Dave Batista. And Charlotte will grace us with her presence
since there’s a title just lying around without an owner. She’ll gladly step in.
Besides the predictable fodder, we do have the interesting
guests in the form of Michael Ché and Colin Jost from Saturday Night Live’s
Weekend Update. This I find intriguing because
I’ve often thought that what this WWE needs is a dose of humor. You see me nearly weekly offer a suggestion
to assist a flailing wrestler that involves incorporating some humor to help
get them over. Remember, Enthusiasts
this is entertainment above all
else. If a performer can’t do it in the
ring, they’ll have to win us over with their “personality”. What better way to get a sense of someone
than getting a taste of their sense of humor?
Weekly, I suggest you join the Twitter fun and tweet your Mystery
Science Theater 3000 style quips to help us entertain ourselves while we
watch. I’m all for making these shows a
bit of a party. Now, I’m not sure if
these gentlemen will appreciate the display that is the WWE but if they’re
funny, they should be able to offer a good jab here and there. What I always thought might help is getting former
SNL writers and the like on the Creative side to at least make the promo
content humorous but I admit, even their shit could be just as hit or
miss. What they really bring is
familiarity with filming live. They may
understand the struggles of running with whatever happens more than filmed TV
writers. Maybe some can find a new or
even better suited voice in a different arena.
Regardless, this is more what I mean in terms of experimentation. We can see if they get it and can riff on it
and who knows, perhaps this could open some doors. I find this a promising development. Hopefully, we'll continue see some improvement in the
content going forward. As for the We, funny tweets get retweeted and
as for Likes/Favorites, let’s see if the comic infusion lends to wit.
See You in a Bit,
