FastLane - No Traffic

A Good Sunday to You, Enthusiasts!

Tonight we feast upon FastLane and to be honest, I’m not exactly excited about it but that doesn’t mean there’s no chance for good content.  I’m not going to rundown every match but there are 4 that could be interesting.  This is another sort of “Blank Slate” sort of PPV so, they’re going to have to go out there and make the most of it.  Though we’re heading into WrestleMania, this doesn’t necessarily have to serve as set-up, everything after does so this is more a stand-alone PPV.  All the wrestlers have to do is stay loose and hit their spots, so to speak.  Perform well and our interest is held, it’s as simple as that.

As for the matches, I’m thinking that the newcomers may be the ones who make the biggest splash.  Aleister Black and Ricochet will be teaming up to take on The Revival and Chad Gable & Bobby Roode in a Triple Threat for the Tag Team Title and with their theatrical flair, this may be the match of the evening.  Yet, that doesn’t mean I expect everyone to become high-flyers to keep up.  Everyone else simply has to own their shit in response to this.  That’s what they bring, what does everyone else?  Now is the time to show us.

In the case of Becky Lynch and Charlotte, they kind of have to do their best to bring the house down.  Their recent set-up landed a little flatly for me due to the clear preference of Becky Lynch with her still besting an aggressive Charlotte while on “one leg”. She’s supposed to be all beat-up and defying odds but this is bordering on unrealistic. We the Audience want to be fooled!  We know it’s fake but who likes bad acting or a bad plot?  We don’t want to watch crap.  Who does?  I’m not MST3K-ing this stuff out of necessity, it’s just fun to do. These ladies now have to take it there and throw everything down just so we care.  Not sure that’s the best angle.  May seem a bit premature but we’ll see what they do with it.

We also get a potential final reunion of The Shield facing off against the Heel Crew in Baron Corbin, Bobby Lashley and Drew McIntyre.  Now, I don’t expect much out of this match but since it’s got a lot of key players, it’s worth mentioning.  Here, these gentlemen kind of have to match the hype.  Since there are so many people involved, I wouldn’t be surprised if they have some hijinks or a surprise return go down here. I don’t expect it to be a linear match at all.  Yet, there is plenty of potential to be a great high spot if they not so much put their backs into it but lift with their legs.  Again, we’ll see what they do with it.

That leaves the most controversial of the matches this evening with Cien Almas and Rey Mysterio getting Kick-off Show play.  I feel this is more a matter of “faux politics”.  To be honest, the Ladies Tag Team match with Bayley & Sasha Banks facing off against Tamina & Nia Jax should get the spot but, due to this being Women’s History Month and Mysterio vs. Almas being straight feud, there’s no real reason for them to get real PPV time even though their head-to-heads have been solid.  This is straight exhibition so, don’t be surprised if they inadvertently set the bar/tone for the night.  They really have shit to lose.

So, that leaves everyone else to try and earn some respect tonight.  It’s not impossible but all those who weren’t mentioned have a chance to show us why they’re kept around. They should let it hang out and try to see if they can sneak in and be the “match of the evening”.  Like with Almas and Mysterio, bulk of the focus may be elsewhere so why not try to shine?  Funny tweets get retweeted and as for Likes/Favorites, we won’t be stingy with our comments but we won’t force them either.  We shall relax and open ourselves to potential brilliance.

See You in a Bit,
-Nicole Alexis (^_~)
