RAW Isn't Tired. Got Plenty Left in the Tank...
A Good Monday to You, Enthusiasts!
Is it going all right for you? Well, hopefully you get to relax soon if you
don’t have your feet up already. So, the
Super ShowDown has come and went and naturally the main talk revolves around
the geriatric match between The UnderTaker and Goldberg. The word is that it was botched to the max
but personally, I feel the WWE was experimenting with Kayfabery. You see Goldberg, “cut himself” on the
turnbuckle, leading to the “botched” ending of the match. If you ask me, that’s what was decided. If Goldberg really cut himself open and
half-concussed himself, they would have stopped the match. With the WWE under-fire for supposedly not
supporting its wrestlers in terms of healthcare and whatnot, the last thing
they need is ridicule over letting an old man wrestle after knocking himself
silly. I believe if it were real, we would
have seen Goldberg carted or assisted out.
Now, as for the reasons of why that was done, who
knows. It could just be an attempt to
adapt. In these days of information at
our fingertips, it gets harder and harder to keep things under wraps. Rather than expect a great match from these
gentlemen, perhaps the WWE gave them an out where they could both save some
face. The match could get realistically
foiled so that we don’t focus on the quality of the match. Yet, the other side of that coin is that it’s
unlikely we’ll be seeing wrestlers perform if they’re over 55 again and that’s not so
bad. Don’t like seeing “dad” and “uncle”
fight anyway 😉
As for the rest of the evening, it was a fair
enough exhibition. It didn’t come close
to a WrestleMania vibe but that was expected.
I would just say they may want to consider moving this event to
Dubai. With AEW spreading its wings and
perhaps other promotions feeling the need to up their game as well, the WWE doesn’t
want to give fans or potential ones a reason to not choose them. Dubai seems like it would be more inclusive
of the Middle Eastern world in general and women may even get the chance to
perform. They should want to come off as “forward
thinking” not “blatantly opportunistic”.
In any case, as for tonight’s action for RAW, we’re encouraged to contemplate
whether Brock Lesnar will be present and/or cash-in his MITB contract. Looks like we’ll have ourselves a Tag Team
Triple Threat for the title but don’t quote me on that and Samoa Joe will clean himself up and
appear on MizTV. The other little tidbit
floating around is a potential scheduling/advertising error circulating. Apparently, the likes of Drew McIntyre and Roman
Reigns could possibly be double booked in separate cities this evening with RAW in San Jose and a SmackDown house show scheduled in Reno,
NV. Promotions have been seen with Shane McMahon celebrating his "victory" at the Super ShowDown with McIntyre for tonight's RAW. The conjecture is that Reigns is supposed to come through and bust up that party. Yet, there's a main event of Reigns versus McIntyre set for Reno tonight, as well. It is entirely possible to make both shows if they have a chartered plane standing by but the question becomes why? Let’s see if they
decided to slave-drive these guys. Funny
tweets get retweeted and as for Likes/Favorites, I believe the build begins for
Stomping Ground, right? Let’s see if
they come up with anything interesting and we’ll respond in kind. It’s the lull between PPVs so, I won’t expect
much but I do expect some decent content.
Even if they intended to end the Super ShowDown as they did, they have to
prove to those who bought it that they still have some idea of what they’re
doing. Go by that. See if they maintain some semblance of
street-cred.
See You in a Bit,
-Nicole
