And for the Second Course, SmackDown Has Some 1st Round King of the Ring Action...
A
Tantalizing Tuesday to You, Enthusiasts!
Why
tantalizing, you ask? Well, to close
this week’s WWE action, we have SmackDown
offering what could be quite a match with Buddy Murphy continuing to serve as
an example of what happens to “snitches” as he faces Daniel Bryan tonight. This should be a good one or at least,
somewhat competitive as Bryan is some Hippie Heel and Murphy has shit to
prove. We’ll see how they spin this
one. Go ahead and prepare yourself for
some sort of “no contest” finish. As
much as this could be a great match, I doubt they’ll waste implications at this
time. Treat this as an experiment. We’ll see how these fellows match up and if
we’re pleasantly surprised with an actual decision, we can go to bed with some
sort of peace. Ideally, this could set
up some Clash of Champions action.
Tonight,
we can rest a little easy because RAW
was solid last night. Smackdown just has to bring it in, so to
speak. Slight miss here and there, but
that comes with this territory. I didn’t
really have too much of a problem with it.
Though, about the social medias and on the internets, people don’t
appear to be feeling this union between Braun Strowman and Seth Rollins. I’m fairly indifferent but I see why this may
not be landing. It’s the whole “arbitrariness”
thing. And for shits & giggles, we’ll
throw these 2 together… I get it. We’ll
have to see if the WWE cares to patch up these sort of holes because at the same
time, we do know how this train rolls.
Sometimes, shit just happens because it’s just like it looks. Let’s see how these 2 or these guys work
together. I’m not sure how much they
care to streamline in this degree.
We must admit a lot of the charm of this industry is that sort of “by the seat
of your pants” mentality. Somehow, by
the Grace of God, a show is performed to completion. We’ll have to see if they produce good enough
action for us to “let it go” or rather, “not think” on these sort of plot
holes. So, if Rollins and Strowman can sell
it, they can sell it. That may be the
test here.
As
for Smackdown’s action for us,
besides the Bryan vs. Murphy throwdown, we got more King of the Ring play which
should shape up to be a lot of fun.
Samoa Joe and Cedric Alexander are through to the next round. This time around, we’ll see if Apollo Crews
can pull a Cedric Alexander and earn himself some street-cred against Andrade
as Kevin Owens sees if he can stuff Elias’ push for the crown. Looks to me that the Owens vs. Elias match
will be the interesting one because that’s one that could very well go either
way, especially depending on what the Creative angle is. I could very easily accept an Elias upset
over Owens for Owens' response alone. You
know this would set Owens on a bit of a rampage, an “Owens Rampage” but a
rampage nonetheless. Only thing is that
dinged-danged arbitrariness. The bust up
would have to lead to something entertaining and/or compelling. We’ll see what they’ll do.
Also,
somewhere in all this, Kofi Kingston is going to have to come up with a
rebuttal for the hurt Randy Orton put on him with an assist from The
Revival last night. This pseudo-rivalry didn’t grab
my attention at first but I like what they’ve done with it. Not sure how much it’s got left in terms of
holding interest but hopefully they’re figuring it out. Not sure we’ll care if
they wait until Clash of Champions to settle this but if they toss in some
intrigue, we may be willing to keep giving it a look. As is the theme now, we shall see. Funny tweets get retweeted and as for
Likes/Favorites, well we have to keep a watchful eye but we don’t want to
stifle the fun. Be discerning but not
stingy. We’re open to some experimentation.
See
You in a Bit,
