RAW Puts SmackDown to Work...

A Good Friday to You, Enthusiasts!

I hope this is the start of a great weekend for you.  The Super Bowl should have plenty of you excited.  As for me, I’ve never liked football but I don’t mind watching the spectacle of the final game.  Besides, the Halftime Show tends to be entertaining at least.  Anyway, as for the WWE Universe, well SmackDown actually has to keep pace again this week as RAW closed on a strong note as we get word that Edge is back for now and to welcome him, his former partner in crime, Randy Orton gave him a Heel Hazing by threatening to re-injure our returned hero’s neck.  This was a masterful bit of heel-itude as the crowd whether it believed it or not, ardently played along.  Some guy was shouting, “Don’t you do it, Randy!  Don’t you do it!...” close to one of the cameras.  It was great!  It’s as if the WWE is giving us a refresher course in itself which wouldn’t be a bad thing.

Many would say that they’ve missed their own point for the past 15-20 years so, that would make it ripe for a “reboot” wouldn’t it 😉 No better way to do that than to lay the groundwork with the basics.  One of the primary rules of the WWE Universe is that the heel is there to goad us.  He or she wants our boos.  Yes, this is an adage of professional wrestling but in the WWE Universe, one sees how these general rules are exaggerated.  How is Orton not getting charges pressed on him for a stunt like that?   Because he’s in heel mode at the moment and the prime directive is to rile us up.  Half the fun is getting riled up in this Universe.  It’s a faux riled.  If you’re really pissed, you’re investing too much for no reason.  It’s not that serious.  Never was, never will be.  I don’t even know if they want us to take it that serious anymore.  When you think about it, it just doesn’t make sense and you know how fans can be.  You know people can get way too in to this shit.  They don’t even keep track of records.  Some fool or fanboy would have to be tasked with that job.  They only count titles that they decide to place on people.  Come on.  If you’re getting too caught up, you missed the point somewhere.  Yeah, it can be infuriatingly bad sometimes and you can just get kinda pissed at the shoddy work but passed that you just shouldn’t be there.  There’s just not enough actually going on.  You lost the plot if you’re getting really mad.  Might need to see somebody.  In any case, my point is that I’m glad the WWE is testing out doing it the old-fashioned way.   It may be long enough removed to be new again.

So, for tonight, SmackDown offers Braun Strowman challenging Shinsuke Nakamura for the Intercontinental Championship.  Also, it’s been floating around that the feud between Baron Corbin and Roman Reigns continues.  Many have been avidly against this on the Social Medias but I’m getting a sense that may just be the “cool thing to do”.  Hey, I take pleasure in trashing the WWE too but when they deserve it.  I’m not going out of my way to do so.   Let’s get real about the WWE.  Corbin and Reigns will feud for the rest of their careers.  They just will cool off from time to time but that’s how it is.  They’ll feud because they can box. They’re big enough to go at it and get up after with relative ease.  Expect this with Strowman, Orton, Kevin Owens, Samoa Joe to a lesser degree, who else is a big dude? Face it, that’s how it is because they can go and make it fun and believable enough.  We will see them box as long as they’re not on the DL.  All the WWE has to do is make the throwdown interesting and mix it up a little.  It is getting time to switch it up but it will be back.  As long as they’re employed, these guys are going to go.  But I get it if you’re bored.  Might be caring too much again is all.

But back to tonight, funny tweets get retweeted as always and when it comes to Likes/Favorites, well you know we’ve got some time until the next big one so, it’s all right to nitpick a little.  You know, give notes but let’s keep it to that.  Expect some experimentation but if it’s truly atrocious do say.  They do need to know.

See You in a Bit,
-Nicole Alexis (^_~)
