SmackDown Adds Gasoline to the Fire...Hopefully...

A Happy Friday to You, Enthusiasts!

Welcome to the weekend.  So, let’s get right to it shall we.  SmackDown has the usual task of taking us into the Royal Rumble and after a decent RAW, the name of the game becomes “keeping pace”.  Let’s just say, that’s the realistic option.   Yes, I would like to be left salivating but let’s just admit the WWE may simply not know how to do that anymore.  Times have changed and tastes are varied.  Before we lead ourselves to disappointment, let’s just step back and see if we’re at the very least, entertained.

So, we ended last week on a high note as The Usos returned to in-ring action and were able to come to the aid of their brethren in the form of Roman Reigns.  As I said on the Twitters, it was a little predictable but not necessarily phoned-in.  The players meant well and that’s fine.  What we have to be wary of is more of the same.  We have to expect some familiarity from time to time.  With a show that’s basically been on forever, you’re going to see some of the same themes or scenarios over time.  The key to keeping it fresh kinda relies on the players.  When it comes their time to perform “the usual”, they have to put their own stamp on it.  Last Week was more fun than anything else which is more important leading into a PPV, I feel.  This show has to get sold and since the Rumble tends to be a big event that many occasional viewers tune in to, I don’t mind the broader stroke to appeal to those who don’t usually watch.  Yet, for this week, we general fans won’t feel too enticed if this Go-Home show comes off too run of the mill.

Looking at the fare, we have the contract signing for the Universal Title and the formal match of The Usos + Roman Reigns facing off against the Heel Team of Baron Corbin, Dolph Ziggler and Mr. Robert Roode.   This is exactly what I’m talking about.  'Tis customary to formalize a burgeoning feud.  And most contract signings are merely gateways to mayhem.  Will these fellows manage to hold our interest anyway?  That is what we will see.  Funny tweets get retweeted and as for Likes/Favorites, feel free to get stern on this one.  The Rumble is kind of a big deal.  Feel free to stare unamused if the right heights aren’t reached.  If you manage genius regardless, well you’ll be rewarded.

See You in a Bit,
-Nicole Alexis (^_~)
