Saturday Night: Main Event (1) - RAW Fallout...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?

Welcome to a new week. So, there’s quite a bit in motion/going on. I would say it was a successful weekend for WWE and AEW seems 2 making their stuff work. Shall we have a chat about it?

Let’s…

First up, we’ll stop in the Realm of AEW as we see Jon Moxley and Company “dial it down” a bit and decide to jump/semi-kidnap FTR. See, that’s what I’m talking about. Have some fun. Get crazy! Give us something to watch. Not sure what the endgame is exactly, but at this point, there’s time to flesh it out. I’ll be sure to check out this “epic” Fatal-4-Way getting set-up once it’s filed away. Keep things simple for now and just go out, get nuts and have fun. If it entertains, it entertains. Don’t overthink it. Most of us aren’t that invested but we will bitch if we’re not entertained.

In the WWE Universe, there are a few points of discussion. The Saturday Night: Main Event went off without a hitch and it was a fine night of wrestling. No real upsets but as we all know that Kevin Owens changed the script at the end of the night by “piledriving” Cody Rhodes and gaining the ire of Triple H. It was nice to see H mixing it up a bit. Guess that’s a good sign of his health.

Personally, if I were H, I’d play up his heart issue from time to time for dramatic effect. If someone really “messes up”, do the ole clutching of the chest after a heated exchange, that sort of thing. See what the Cerebral Assassin has left in the tank, type of angle. I don’t need him getting physical but getting in people’s heads he can do all day.

I really appreciated the clean execution of the evening. I think they should adhere to the polished approach for these shows. Given how everyone is given a free preview, it’s an excellent way to get some new eyes on the product and impress. The roster should treat them like their Finals like in University/College. Here’s the chance to demonstrate how well they’ve acquired the knowledge. I certainly would like to know from time to time. Give people their “grades” and whatnot 😉 I’d have to give A’s and A-’s this time around. Though some people claimed it was just a televised House show, I found it a refreshingly crisp display. To me, that’s the standard. That was how it ought to be done.

Given that Saturday Night: Main Event provided the backdrop for the new Women’s US Championship, there is a lot of chatter that the new Women’s Intercontinental Championship should go to Natalya for all her years of service. Some make the argument that she doesn’t need it but I think the Title deserves a dependable champion to start so, she gets my vote. She’s been playing Camp Counselor of late, getting the new girls up to speed for Television and taking the L to get them over. I think she’s got enough dues saved up for this one. She may even get a chance to make a play for the US Championship at some point and then after that she can start to wind down.

I get that she doesn’t have the most popularity but she’s got the skill and the clout so why not? Give it to one of the newbies and it’s hard to establish its importance. Everyone knows that Natayla knows the gig and plays well. Let her have it while she decides what the next chapter is. Those are my 2¢ about it.

In any case, we have what technically is SNME’s Fallout for tonight’s RAW. The newer Ladies will remind us they’re on the roster as Kayden Carter, Raquel Rodriguez and Zoey Stark have a Triple Threat to start the Intercontinental Championship Tournament. Ludwig Kaiser takes another shot at Bron Breakker and tries to take the Men's Intercontinental Title. Finn Bálor and JD McDonagh will defend the Tag Team Championships against the revamped War Raiders. And we’ll see if Cody Rhodes can speak and/or walk after Kevin Owens’ “merciless” beatdown.

The unofficial watch party will be at 8pm PST for my fellow West Coasters. Feel free to join in if you too can’t catch up until later.

See You in a Bit,

-Nicole Alexis (^_~)
