RAW Deals with a Lot of Fallout Before SummerSlam...
How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?
How’d you like the weekend? There was a little something for everyone, wasn’t there. That means there’s plenty to talk about but I’ll only touch on a few points. If you’re like me, you don’t care that much but like to be kept abreast of the general current events. So, let’s break some of this down.
We’ll start in the Realm of AEW as they are feeling elated as the great nasty “masochistic dragon” that is Jon Moxley was finally “slain” by the great and mighty Adam, the Hangman of Page! Now, perhaps it’s my WWE lens but I wasn’t as caught up with this as many commenters were but I have to say that Page’s victory was well-executed. Page stuck to being no-nonsense. He hung with Mox and got bloody with him too and in the end, gave him a taste of his own medicine by “half-strangling” him with a chain. If you saw the conclusion, Mox did the rest with his frenzied reaction. Looked like a cat caught in a net or something but I feel that was the proper response.
The Realm will celebrate until Wednesday, then we’ll have to stand by for the “consequences”. I can see Page speaking Mox’s language earning him some respect but it could also be the “catalyst” for the Future. Bringing Moxley right up to “death’s door” is the kind of stuff that triggers. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Riders of Death soon get a new name. The “recalibration” could bring Mox new focus and presence of mind. That is the beginning of the “end” in my mind. We’ll see how AEW proceeds. For now, everyone just rest and heal up.
It was also nice to see Bryan Danielson/Daniel Bryan and Darby Allin jumping in to lend a hand. Looks like all the heroes did as Swerve Strickland did Page a solid as did Will Osprey. We also have to give Mox and Page their props as they earned Match of the Night in a landslide which you don’t always see for Mox so, consider this all very promising. The Future remains quite Bright. Please, proceed.
Mercedes Moné and Toni Storm took 2nd place with the Tag Team action of Will Osprey and Swerve Strickland taking on the Young Bucks coming in 3rd. I’d have to agree with the placement. The Tag Team Match was just too staged and choreographed for my blood but Moné and Storm went out and danced. That’s all I ever ask for.
As for the WWE Universe, they started things off with the Saturday Night: Main Event and I’m not sure if that was quite the show they were going for. Seth Rollins appeared to get hurt during his match against LA Knight and the tone shifted from then on out. Was he or wasn’t he injured, is the real question. There are rumors that the action was switched up on the fly to accommodate but was that the plan in the first place? You can never be sure with the Architect in play.
As for the main event itself, I found it underwhelming though, I thought Goldberg trying to rouse the Ref he destroyed was a nice touch. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone try that before 😉 Goldberg stayed with GUNTHER for the most part but I never felt the match was close. I guess it was just Goldberg straight getting 1 final time in the ring before hanging it up for good. I missed Goldberg in his heyday so, this is all a bit lost on me but I respect his service. I see how there was a market for him once. I hope he at least had some fun.
Then, last night, the Ladies had their night with Evolution 2. I didn’t partake but I caught Naomi’s cash-in and I can’t express how proud I am of that lady. She’s come a long way and is nailing being bad. Her crashing through with Jade Cargill all weekend long was one of the better spots all around so if anyone gets the MVP for the weekend, I’d say it should go to Naomi. She’s the Women’s Champion now and will see how long that lasts. You know how it is around these parts. Someone’s eyeing her as I type.
And that brings us tonight’s RAW. As we prepare for Summer Slam, will have some mild Fallout from all the action this past weekend. There’s a good chance that Stephanie Vaquer is one of the many women aligning her sights to Naomi. We’ll get some more insight this evening. Nikki Bella will see if she still remembers what she learned against Chelsea Green. Naomi will take a little time to gloat and let the takers come. And Bron Breakker, LA Knight, Penta aka Lucha-Mitsu, CM Punk and Jey Uso will have themselves a Gauntlet Match for the #1 Contender spot for a battle with Gunther for the Heavyweight Championship.
It will be interesting to see how Breakker acts with Rollins “hurt”. We’ll see if he remains faithful or takes off chasing after cars. Paul “The Oracle” Heyman only does so much. In the meantime, I’ll try to get myself together during the 8 o’clock hour for the replay party. It’s Monday so, I don't have much else to do.
See You in a Bit,
-Nicole Alexis (^_~)
