Looks Like Smackdown Is Going to Have to Help Build this Cell...

Happy Tuesday to You, Enthusiasts!

How are you doing this evening?  Well, I hope.  So, let’s get right to it, shall we.  RAW wasn’t the best but that may be more due to something that often gets in the WWE’s way: Reality.  That concept bursts more bubbles than we can count and the WWE Universe is apparently bumping into it now.   The example best showed itself in the Bray Wyatt segments.   One opened last night and it wasn’t bad but the premise had Wyatt interacting with a live Seth Rollins.  I know plenty of people love this gimmick but the transition from screen to real time was awkward at best and it’s hard not to roll your eyes sometimes because we are being asked to accept this “spooky” alter ego.  I’m not sure how I’m supposed to get the spooks with some guy in a Halloween mask.  Again, I rather have a beatdown.

Then to close, I have to say I was delighted to see Dad (Kane) but for him to go down to The Fiend just gets me all riled up about how they never used Dad right in the first place!  I’m glad Dad’s a good sport at putting the kids over but does this do that really?  Some “Mandible Claw”, really?  That’s going to put down Dad?   This is the other aspect of Reality that’s getting to the WWE, we just can’t “believe” this as is anymore.  The problem kinda cropped up Sunday night with Rollins’ win over Braun Strowman too.  Yes, it took about 4 CurbStomps to put him down but the general point is would that really happen?  Strowman could probably actually take Rollins and break him in 2 upon his knee.  We all know that the same can’t be said for Rollins.  Without these smaller guys carrying black belts of some sort, how are they going to believably sell these David vs. Goliath matches going forward?  I don’t really have any answers but they are going to have to get creative.  We just can see them taking falls out there.  That’s not going to get anyone excited.   This is just one of the many problems they’re going to have to consider as they evolve.  That dinged, danged Reality will always hound them.

As for tonight’s action, it looks like we get to have a bit of fun as we coronate Baron Corbin.  Shane McMahon is scheduled to explain his petty “firing” of Kevin Owens.  And I hear we’re going to have one of those standard 6-Man-Tags they tend to have.  I suppose Bayley may have to watch her back backstage after what she did to Charlotte too.  There are the makings for a bit of doozy here but will they manage it.  It’s best to keep expectations low.  But remember, these will be experimental times.  With NXT set to debut tomorrow, expect a lot of tweaking and perhaps peculiar goings on but it’s all in the name of finding that “perfect blend”.  With times a changing as they are, it may be hard to find but it is doable.  That being said, funny tweets get retweeted and as for Likes/Favorites…well, Smackdown has a delicate task.  It doesn’t really have to clean up after RAW but demonstrate that there is a method to all this madness.  Though many may already think they do, the WWE shouldn’t come in second to its Minor League.  Tonight, they have to remind us all of why this is the Majors.  We’ll see if they do.

See You in a Bit,
-Nicole Alexis (^_~)
