We Take a Brief Detour to Saturday Night: Main Event!

A Good Weekend to You, Enthusiasts! How are you all doing? I’m not sure how to approach these SNME shows just yet. They’re not quite a PPV but they’re not regularly scheduled like RAW and SmackDown so I’ll be playing with how I handle these. Not much has happened in the course of about 24 hours but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing to talk about. Let’s see what’s interesting. For whatever it’s worth, last night’s SmackDown did a fair job of setting the scene. The primary focus remained on Money in the Bank, as it should be, but we had Drew McIntyre battle through with Damian Priest and R-Truth gave us an impassioned promo on how if need be, he’d beat the John Cena he once knew back into him. Fine by me.  For me, however, the highlight was seeing Aleister Malakai Black and Shinsuke Nakamura throwdown. Though I playfully booed whenever LA Knight got into the mix, I thought him just playing smart rather than try to hang was a wise decision. Knight can rock the mic but his in-ring sk...

SmackDown Acknowledges the Assignment - Money in the Bank...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? Ready to enjoy the Memorial Day Weekend, if that’s your lot? I’m prepping to make the most of it. May those who don’t apply find rest and entertainment. As for the Wrestling World, there are a few things going on. I’ll only talk about some of them so, let’s get into it. Then we can all get on with our lives. In the Realm of AEW, things appear to be moving along nicely. I took a look at how the Death Riders are progressing and this week’s mayhem seemed very focused. I saw a lot of good execution and teamwork all around, Faces included. Everyone seemed keen on performing well and putting on a good show. Hard to knock it. Never a bad thing when concerning the Future. The pleasant surprise for me, however, was discovering that Gabe Kidd is like a complete “hooligan”. This kid would have been striding with the crew down Green Street, if you get my drift. He may be too young to get the reference but that’s the vibe, perfect for a young cohort of Moxley’s. N...

RAW Gives Us Our New Focus: Money in the Bank!

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts! It’s another Monday and I wouldn’t say this is an exciting one but a few things of note went down over the weekend. For one, I watched The Brutalist and now I understand why Adrien Brody took his time with his Oscar’s speech. I think you could say he earned it.  As for the Wrestling World, it wasn’t set on fire but we have a few talking points. Are you up for a little chat? It shouldn’t be too painful. In the Realm of AEW, the East Coast seemed to receive a bit of prank when it came to last week’s Collision . The last 30 minutes was somehow pre-empted for a showing of Black Adam . Is someone trying to say something? 😉 You guys like wrestling, right? You won’t mind a movie with The Rock, then and people who aren’t interested in AEW will bolster the numbers with the switcheroo? 🤷 This wasn’t a problem on the West Coast feed so, it’s hard to say what went wrong. Maybe someone was new on the job. Feel free to find the threads on social media and offer u...

BackLash 2025 - SmackDown Fallout...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? Happy Friday! Well, there are a few things we can chat about this evening. Nothing spectacular or crazy but enough to get some conversation going. Give us some things to talk about. You ready to get into it? Let’s do it.  We’ll start in the Realm of AEW since they had their dual part Beach Break this week. I, as stated, checked out the Steel Cage Match between Jon Moxley and Samoa Joe to see how this served the Future and to me, it looked like another “foul ball” into the stands. CM Punk and Drew McIntyre have nothing to worry about as there was no real comparison other than it being a Steel Cage Match but Moxley’s enemies and detractors get more “evidence” in regards to how he’s a threat to himself and others. It’s a stretch, I’ll admit, because blood was spilt but in the action not so much blading I would say. Nevertheless, I’m thinking those against him will take anything that supports their case and he was out there bleeding again.  It w...

BackLash 2025 - RAW Fallout...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? How’d you like BackLash? I liked it! It was solid from start to finish. I’m like most and thought the opening Fatal-4-Way was the most fun though the main event brought me around in the end. I feel everyone should generally feel good about this show. It was respectfully executed and set us up well for Money in the Bank. Never thought I’d see the day but it’s all starting to come together. As for my Matches of Interest, I think my sentiments were validated for the most part. Lyra Valkyria became the endearing victim in a win followed by a beatdown from Lady Becky Lynch. Pat McAfee “kept it real” and basically warmed up and went for it against GUNTHER but kept it gutsy with some help from Michael Cole. Cole was an unexpected ingredient to this showdown as he spoke out against Gunther infringing upon their journalistic integrity and right to Freedom of Speech. A little social commentary getting sprinkled in, if you ask me 😉 I figured this was set up for...

BackLash 2025 - Matches of Interest...

How’s It Going Enthusiasts! Happy Mothers’ Day Weekend. Since I’ll be traveling on the actual day, I’m making the most of my daughterly duties today. Started a little yesterday to be honest. So, here we are at BackLash and the slim card lets us know that this isn’t the biggest event but a relevant one. I take these as times for the less popular talent to get a chance. The popular ones are cool, of course, but too much of the same gets boring. It’s good to mix it up. See what everyone’s got. This could be a fun one but I’m curious about 2 of these matches on offer. The first one being the only Lady option as Lady Becky Lynch takes on her protegée in Lyra Valkyria. This is Valkyria’s match to lose or win, regardless of the actual outcome.  What has to happen here is that Valkyria has to get us to care about her to some degree or she risks being just another wrestler. This is the tricky part ‘cause it can be argued that this is the bit of it that can’t be taught. You either got it or ...

SmackDown Shows Everyone the Door for BackLash...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts! Happy Friday! So, there are a few things going on in the Wrestling World but nothing rocking it. Just stuff going on so, this should be a relatively short post. We’ll be able to get the weekend started pretty quickly so, let’s get into it shall we. In the Realm of AEW, they’re getting ready for its Beach Break event happening next week. It’s not quite a PPV but it’s enough to get them to change their regular schedule as Collision was bumped up to Thursday to create a 2-Night event. All I’m looking at is the Steel Cage Match between Samoa Joe and Jon Moxley. I’ll definitely take a look at that with an eye towards the Future. Yet, in terms of news, social media has been a bit of a stir for AEW. Will Osprey has always been a staunch proponent for AEW and he stirred it up again by proclaiming that their wrestlers are better wrestlers than WWE’s any day of the week and most are saying that’s a matter of preference. I don’t doubt they’re generally better technica...

RAW Brings Everyone In to Kick 'Em Out for BackLash...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? Did the weekend treat you well? I enjoyed mine, actually. Starting to develop my own plans for the future 😉 In the meantime, the Wrestling World is taking it easy at the moment. There are a few things circulating but nothing rocking the grapevine. Ready for a little review? Here we go. In the Realm of AEW it would appear that Jon Moxley has dialed it down by half if you ask me. Didn’t even know a 3.25 even registered for Mox. That’s not even much of a trembler if we’re talking earthquakes. If you’re a California native, you may not even notice it. Is there something wrong? Is he sick? Got a fever? No, I think the Future means more to him than he lets on as it should. If properly executed, it does change the game.  I dare not speak too much until it’s done but let Mox do what he feels is best at present. What matters now is that the foundation is correctly laid. Not to say a faulty foundation would cause the whole thing to collapse but the real mortar f...
