RAW Tries to Keep Everyone's Mind on Money in the Bank...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?

Well, it’s not the cheeriest Monday in the IWC as the WWE Universe seems to be performing a bit of purge when it comes to the roster. That’s basically the big news at the moment but we’ll start with some stuff sitting on the periphery. Ready for it? Here we go.

So, Ric Flair was documented being Ric Flair on Twitter recently. Unfortunately, it appears his age is starting to show. In an attempt to make some Heel-approved funnies, he ended up demonstrating what it is to be out of touch with an audience, taste-wise. I can see if you’re on his wavelength, you probably would have chuckled but that sort of humor hasn’t been popular for a solid 10 years at least. It could have flown at the start of the 2000’s but not so much anymore. Proper consideration supersedes crass humor these days. We’ll see if the old dog can learn any new tricks but given this display, I wouldn’t hold my breath.

On the administrative end of the WWE Universe, the purge I mentioned appears to be in effect. WWE Brass are checking the books and running lines through those who seem to be taking up more than they’re worth by the numbers. One of those line items turned out to be R-Truth and there is a bunch of upset that got churned up with it.

I was never an R-Truth fan but I have to admit that he’s won me over in recent years. His entrance rap always seemed dated and I never cared for the “ghetto fabulous” presentation but he found a niche and made it work. He understood the “comedic relief” assignment and got honest laughs out of me. I understand he’s 105 but he still looks about 40 and is still in good shape so, I don’t know what the problem is. He can’t be making that much.

I’m not going to make comparisons to those who may “better deserve it”. I find that sort of retort to also be in poor taste. Entertainment is a tough business for just this sort of thing. One day you’re hot, the next day you’re not and the decision can be completely arbitrary. However, I feel R-Truth sincerely earned his keep and I wouldn’t be surprised if they cycle him into a Legends contract just to appease the general dismay.

Yet, Truth isn’t the only casualty. It appears that The Miz may also not get his contract renewed along with Carlito and Sarah Logan aka Valhalla. The Miz is another surprise but to be honest, I’ve always been surprised he lasted as long as he did. He was never a good wrestler but he did what he did well and when someone was shite on the mic, you could always have him serve up filler. He did serve his purpose but I don’t really see how he factors into the future the way it appears to be manifesting.

As for Carlito and Logan, well, I missed Carlito’s first run though he was fun this time around and Logan I’m just glad she got some time in the limelight but with the War Raiders dropping the Viking theme, not sure what they need a Valhalla for. It’s too bad but it is what it is. There’s a lot of fresh talent waiting in the wings and these folks already had their chance. I hope they get sizeable severance packages at least.

And so, on that bittersweet note, we have tonight’s RAW. All this stuff puts a bit of damper on the Go-Home Week so, that’s a bit of a gripe. This is supposed to be a fun week and they’re forcing people to play through. We can expect Lyra Valkyria to take some hints from the day as she speaks to us one last time before facing Becky Lynch for the Intercontinental Championship. The Ladies will have another Qualifying Match with the likes of Liv Morgan, Ivy Nile and Stephanie Vaquer battling for a spot in the Ladder Match for Money in the Bank. Then the men will have theirs as El Grande Americano, CM Punk and AJ Styles throw down. And Sami Zayn and Jey Uso will try to help us “yeet” our sorrows away while the pairing of Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed will do all that they can to leave them as stains on the mat.

I’ve got some business to tend to first but I’ll be able to get the replay party going by the 9 o’clock hour, Pacific Time. You can always start without me. I’ll catch up.

See You in a Bit,

-Nicole Alexis (^_~)
