RAW Gives Us Our New Focus: Money in the Bank!
How’s It Going, Enthusiasts!
It’s another Monday and I wouldn’t say this is an exciting one but a few things of note went down over the weekend. For one, I watched The Brutalist and now I understand why Adrien Brody took his time with his Oscar’s speech. I think you could say he earned it.
As for the Wrestling World, it wasn’t set on fire but we have a few talking points. Are you up for a little chat? It shouldn’t be too painful.
In the Realm of AEW, the East Coast seemed to receive a bit of prank when it came to last week’s Collision. The last 30 minutes was somehow pre-empted for a showing of Black Adam. Is someone trying to say something? 😉 You guys like wrestling, right? You won’t mind a movie with The Rock, then and people who aren’t interested in AEW will bolster the numbers with the switcheroo? 🤷 This wasn’t a problem on the West Coast feed so, it’s hard to say what went wrong. Maybe someone was new on the job. Feel free to find the threads on social media and offer up your joke contribution. You can say a lot with that sort of move.
Elsewhere, Darby Allin has reached the summit of Mt. Everest. He had his AEW Banner ready so I suppose he’s claimed it for them. Regardless, it’s quite a feat and congratulations to the young lad. I know it’s something that I won’t achieve so I won’t take away from his accomplishment. Now, he has to head back down which I hear is quicker but just as treacherous so he’s not out of harm’s way just yet. Let’s wish him a safe return.
In the WWE Universe, we have some lighter news as John Cena makes the rounds. He showed up at a Fan Expo in Philadelphia and a patron asked him a “tough” question. How could he lay out R-Truth? He’s his childhood hero! Cena handled it in stride. How could he be? Truth is “150 years old.” Truth had already did 2 tours in ‘Nam by the time Cena was born. The whole thing got a chuckle out of the Crowd so it’s nice to see people playing along, Cena included.
After this week’s Saturday Night: Main Event, WWE is still kicking around who will be next for Cena. The general thinking is that at some point he may team with Travis Scott and face Cody Rhodes and another ally. And after that, Cena vs. CM Punk should go down somewhere but the WWE Brass are waiting for that epiphany to decide when.
I wouldn’t mind seeing that showdown, I just don’t know what the beef is. Perhaps, there doesn’t need to be one. We all know Punk can get honery but I feel in his old age, he needs more of an obvious reason and “ruining wrestling” I can see Punk half sympathizing with. Maybe this should just be a gentlemanly contest. Punk could draw Cena out. Get him to remember what’s so fun about this profession. Could Punk get Cena to crack a smile?
Given where things stand, I don’t think calling Cena out works but Punk can be cerebral at times. Perhaps it’s best to get Cena to question his stance. I can see Punk not buying all this to a certain degree. I think it’s more interesting if Punk tries to get Cena to “crack”. But that’s just a suggestion 😉
And so, that brings us to tonight’s RAW. So far, the spoilers are speaking of a nasty injury that Zoey Stark suffered. Let’s wish her a speedy recovery. That sort of occupational hazard is always hard to see. As for the planned action, we can expect Grayson Waller to get some screen time courtesy of Sheamus. Finn Bálor will drag JD McDonagh into a Tag Team Match with Penta aka Lucha-Mitsu and AJ Styles. And Lord Seth Rollins will release “The Hound” that is Bron Breakker so that Breakker can take aim upon Jey Uso.
The unofficial replay party should get started around the 8 o’clock hour. I’m figuring out how to minimize but pre-show business. Gotta get up in the morning.
See You in a Bit,
-Nicole Alexis (^_~)
