Champions Will CLASH Tonight!!!!

A Merry End of Summer Sunday, Enthusiasts!

As you all know, we will gather tonight and witness this month’s PPV, Clash of Champions.  This is a sort of bittersweet time as it basically marks the end of an era.  This week will debut NXT on the USA Network and this should be a far cry from when Main Event was televised. So, this PPV has to set a new tone in a way.  Personally, I wouldn’t have NXT and the WWE in direct competition with each other but to say there won’t be any comparison is naïve at best.  Both sides have to now hold the other to task, so to speak.  If the WWE is the example, then NXT should be at least just as good and conversely, the WWE can’t really allow itself to be shown up.  Ideally, this should work in a way where they keep each other on their toes.  When does that ever hurt?

As for tonight’s action, they close the door on the past while opening another for the future and how they do that will be hard to say.  I’m not even going to attempt to speculate.  I’ll just speak on a few of the matches I feel may be particularly interesting, the first of which being the one between Roman Reigns and Erick Rowan.  Now, this is even more interesting because the rumor floating around is that this may close the evening though it has no title implications but, is set to be a No Disqualification match.  I suppose the thinking is that they don’t have to worry about the time in this case. Sells the realism I guess.  Well, I kinda disagree just because of the lack of importance of the match. This is to settle a beef at best so I would throw it in around the half-way mark.  Given the size of Rowan, I would safely assume this wouldn’t last long anyway.  One of these guys is gonna take the other out; don’t think it’ll take 30 minutes. What they do have to focus on is turning the whole place out, though.  This is more or less the Hoss Fight for the Ages so there should be quite the mess to clean up after.  If these guys get it, they should have a lot of fun knocking each other silly tonight.

Speaking of the night’s main event, I kind of think the Sasha Banks vs. Becky Lynch match would be a good contender.  This match has a lot of implications because it gives us an idea how they’re going to proceed with the both of them.  Does Lynch continue to strut around with her “The Man” swagger or does Sasha Banks reestablish being The Boss?  Well, seeing how Banks has been the one on the sidelines, her raising up her “Bossdom” may be about due.  Makes for a more compelling dynamic moving forward as Lynch figures how to counter.  I’m always in favor of better TV.

What’s also conjuring some curiosity is the Tag Team Championship match that has Seth Rollins & Braun Strowman teaming up to face off against Mr. Robert Roode & Dolph Ziggler.  In all honesty, Rollins and Strowman should open and close since they have double duty. Also, I don’t mind the arbitrariness with the teams here because it’s clear it isn’t going to last.  I’m thinking it’s just to get eyes on it as the transition over to FOX looms.  Just given the nature of this, I’m thinking Rollins & Strowman win the tag team but Strowman takes the Universal Title. Might make for some decent drama for tomorrow’s RAW.  I don’t know how much of it will stick but the upheaval stokes curiosity and they know they need the general interest.

As for the rest of it, well everyone knows what they have to do.  They have to go make themselves relevant out there.  It’s a PPV so no one wants to be the bathroom break or the snooze fest.  I can’t even begin to imagine  the caliber of tonight’s action.  The talent and potential is all there, will it come together effectively?  You know it’s always a crap shoot.  Funny tweets get retweeted and as for Likes/Favorites, don’t go out of your way.  They either gave you the goods for greatness or they didn’t.  No need to do the work for them.  Let’s see what they got and whether they realize what time it is.

See You in a Bit,
-Nicole Alexis (^_~)
