Will RAW Stay Afloat?...

A Merry Monday to You, Enthusiasts!

This is an important night.  The WWE seems to be going out of its way to tank its own flagship show as not only are they set to continue the Rusev, Lana & Lashley saga but now, there’s some bad press circulating over a member of the NXT roster.  Now, knowing that the WWE probably has a fanbase that consists of a fair share of text book “rednecks”, it’s no surprise that the WWE runs into sensitivity issues from time to time.  This time around, it appears to be more of a “tone deaf” sort of situation as a Jordan Myles called out the WWE for what he feels was a blatant show of what I call “minstrel-ization”.  You’ll have to see the shirt for yourself to make your own decision.  I can see where he can make the allegation but this seems a bit off…why make the accusations after approving the shirt?  This is not the full story.  Yet, I do wonder how this idea didn’t get struck down sooner.  I could see this if it was like 15-20 years ago and if the gimmick was more comically self-deprecating, it could easily slip through but in this scrutinizing day and age, they just can’t risk it.  I mean with the stuff that went down with Hulk Hogan, you’d think they’d have a small division devoted to shutting this sort of thing down.  They just can’t risk the bad PR.  They already are having a hard time keeping viewers and now to show insensitivity on top of all that, it’s like someone is trying to get this to fail.  Interesting times, interesting times….

In any case, they will attempt to redirect our focus with more Crown Jewel fare.  Becky Lynch is going to have herself a piece of Kairi Sane, or so it seems.  And Seth Rollins will try to hang with Erick Rowan in a “Falls Count Anywhere” match.  Again, I don’t envy these people.  They’re in a very undesirable position.  It’s as if they’re trying to save a sinking ship.  I wouldn’t quite call it the Titanic but it’s a big one, and the hull breach is daunting.  This can be saved but they’re going to have to buckle down and get in front of these “loose ends” and quit shooting themselves in the foot.  RAW has to deliver tonight.  If it doesn’t, the WWE will be the only ones who face the consequences.  Tonight, we witness whether they plug the breach or go under.  With that said, funny tweets get retweeted and as for Likes/Favorites, geese I wouldn’t expect too much in a climate like this.  We may get a lot of over-compensation that could just as easily fall flat.  Let’s just see how they do this, with as little presumption as possible.  Let’s try to just give them the space to redeem themselves.  They’ll either come through or they won’t.

See You in a Bit,
-Nicole Alexis (^_~)
