SmackDown Settles Crown Jewel. It's Time for Other Things...

Anything interesting to report? Well, there are a few things going on in the wrestling world but nothing too earth shattering. Shall we have a little chat about it?

The first bit of business concerns the world at large for the most part as one of ours may be on The Masked Singer. There’s a lot of social media speculation that Chris Jericho is “The Bride”. I have to say after seeing the clip I would have to say that it does sound a lot like him. I wouldn’t be surprised at all. I just wonder how many people know who he is. I’m sure we at home will hear a boisterous crowd when he's revealed but I’m not sure if Jericho is a household name outside the wrestling community. I’d be surprised if anyone guesses it’s him.

In other news, CM Punk returned to television for a Tampa MMA promotion. He served as one of the commentators and looked fresh and personable. Imagine that. Little time off to reflect seems to have properly reset him. He also made a little fun of himself along the way. That’s exactly what he should be doing right now. He’s got to prove that he’s not in a mood 24/7 but can easily end up in one 😉 I think it’s a good move. Let those who get it, get it. Everyone will think whatever they want to think. There’s no point in trying to sway them.

The last bit of news is a bit of a 2-parter. Rumor has it that Bray Wyatt is trying to bring back Erick Rowan and Bo Dallas. Naturally they would have to join forces. I always said Dallas should have been with Wyatt or at least should have made his way over to him. It’s only natural since they’re brothers. As I keep saying, pro-wrestling requires a sort of authenticity. We like it when art imitates life. Makes it all seem more “real”. Anything to lose ourselves in it. 

All that said, Alexa Bliss reportedly stated to WWE Deutschland that she is trying to reimagine her character. I didn’t mind the allusion to the past that occurred at Crown Jewel regarding her pairing with Wyatt. I think they should have some sort of closure with that. I don’t know if it should be used to catapult Bliss in another direction but their history shouldn’t be forgotten, just not reinstated. I’m thinking they keep it weird. Maybe kidnap her or something. Leave her somewhere “to be found” and when they do, she’s her new incarnation. Not dark and “supernatural”, just whatever she comes up with. The change is that she wants nothing to do with Wyatt ever again. If she’s in catering and he comes in, she picks up her plate and leaves, sort of thing. Being the WWE Universe, everyone just assumes whatever the issue is, it’s between them. That’s what I’d do. Let’s see how they handle it, if at all.

That basically brings us to tonight’s SmackDown. Remember it is Crown Jewel Fallout so the repercussions will continue as they build for Survivor Series/War Games. There will be an inaugural “World Cup” tournament that will decide the #1 Contender for GUNTHER. The Usos will face The New Day for the Tag Team Championships. And the Ladies will have themselves a 6-Pack Challenge to determine who faces Ronda Rousey for the SmackDown Women’s Championship. Twitter is interesting territory given its transition. Use it as an opportunity to let it rip. Who cares right now anyway.
