SmackDown Went Home But Is Still Here for Survivor Series/War Games...

A Merry Black Friday to You, Enthusiasts!

For those of you in the United States, I’m sure you’re lazily digesting last night’s meal. That’s fine. As you should be. I am no different so digest away. For everyone else, I hope this is a pleasant day for you. It does tend to mark the official start of the Holiday Season.

And so, for the “sports entertainment” fan, that means the tone of the hour is Survivor Series. But before we get into tonight’s Go-Home Show, let’s get caught up with what’s going on in the wrestling world. Been a bit caught up with Family business, you know. Tis the season, after all.

So, there are a few things going on. Most of which concern the WWE Universe. We’ll start with some heartwarming news as Becky Lynch has made a sweet connection during her Make-A-Wish service. She befriended a precious young boy with an unfortunate congenital condition and his big sister. The sister wrote a book on her little brother and Lynch couldn’t help but give it a plug. The children appear quite darling and it’s always nice to see when wrestlers remember the big picture. Lynch gets the hearty pat on the back.

In other news, I found it interesting that Damian Priest was asked to read for a part in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. I always thought he has a great Northern American/Caribbean endemic look and I thought he’d be great for any roles that required a “Native” element. I’m glad some casting office thought the same thing. I knew it! I hope he gets more opportunities. His size alone could get him a lot of work.

Going along with the Judgment Day connection, word is that Triple H is in Finn Bálor’s corner. He always has been, apparently, but you know, didn’t have the final say. Now that he has, the sentiment is that they’re getting back to Bálor’s development. Well, you know how I feel about this. I want them to believably go the supernatural route but it would take some dedication from Bálor. I keep pushing for this because it explains why Bálor is a threat. Given his size, it’s hard to take him seriously even if he is a skilled wrestler. Why doesn’t someone twice his size pick him up and shove him somewhere? You’d assume that’s how the Judgement Day would break up someday, right? What keeps them beholden? The sneaking suspicion that he’s “something else” could do it. And then they have to fire up the creative engines when it comes to when he takes on the Dæmon Persona. There’s a lot of fun to be had there if they commit and go for it. We’ll see what they come up with and if it comes anywhere close.

That more or less brings us to tonight’s SmackDown. It’s Go-Home for Survivor Series/War Games and it appears that the Ladies will handle the heavy lifting tonight. Bianca BelAir will announce the final member of her War Games Team. There’s heavy speculation that it will be Becky Lynch though many hope it will be Sasha Banks but I’m not sure about that.

Given that she recently filed her own trademarks makes it sound like she may either go to AEW or into business for herself. Personally, I think the latter has more traction. Something about her doesn’t really suit the AEW motif. She’s decidedly WWE, kinda like how Bray Wyatt doesn’t fit anywhere else. Her presentation is very “high maintenance” and you just get the feeling AEW couldn’t really afford her. But I digress.

Getting back to Survivor Series/War Games, Drew McIntyre and Sheamus will pair up to see if they can earn an advantage against The Usos and by association the Bloodline. We’ll have “World Cup” matches with Braun Strowman facing Ricochet and Santos Escobar seeing if he can get his hands on Pete “Butch” Dunne. And Ronda Rousey will play along and team with Shayna Baszler to have a dance with Shotzi Blackheart and Raquel Rodriguez. That sounds like it could take up most of the night but we’ll have to tune in to see what fills in the blanks. Don’t try too hard tonight. A lot of people are distracted and relaxing on this Holiday weekend. Just sit back and enjoy. See if you come up with a funny and I catch it.

See You in a Bit,

-Nicole Alexis (^_~)
