Crown Jewel = Pre-Recorded "Go Home" SmackDown...

Can't have them out there dead on their feet (^_~)

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?

Looks like I get to stay in town this weekend so I’ll be around for the SmackDown festivities tonight and will be watching Crown Jewel live tomorrow morning. It’s a 9am call for us on the West Coast. I should sleep in but might as well get this crossed off for that day. In the meantime, let’s chat a bit about what’s going on. There are few things of interest happening.

The first matter of interest is that Becky Lynch has been tapped to play Cyndi Lauper on Young Rock. I have no problem with Becky Lynch but being someone who remembers Cyndi Lauper, I’m not sure if she’s a good fit. Can Lynch even do the New York accent Lauper rocks? Lauper did a great job of understanding what the assignment was out there. I think Lynch can talk the shit but Lauper is such a unique individual, I’m just not sure she can do her justice but we’ll see. Hope she has fun with it. It’s kind of necessary.

In other news, Randy Orton was slated to turn on Matt Riddle upon his return but given so much has changed since going on the Injured List, that may not remain the case. Some commenters feel Orton should stay a Face a while but I think he’s so much more fun as a Heel. What I would suggest is that he just gets more over-the-top with his Heeldom. He is an “attempted murderer” after all. I would say he should follow that route and just get thwarted every time. You know, ‘cause everyone is on to him. Kinda like The Brain from Pinky and the Brain. It would be his goal to “kill” someone every night he has screen time. That’s just his thing. Bad serial killer 😉 He could even have pangs of guilt in some instances that he's almost successful and make it look like the would-be victim got away as opposed to him having his conscience kick in. There's a lot of ways they could play with it. They should.

Speaking of injuries, R-Truth appears to have suffered a torn quadricep during an appearance on NXT. It looks like he was in the process of showing the kids how it’s done while going over the ropes but it looks like his timing may have been a little off and he landed flat on his back. I thought he might have suffered a back injury by the looks of it but I guess it’s just a bruise. It’s the leg that failed him. Naturally, we wish him a fast recovery. He’s a reliable vet, through and through. Hate to see him sidelined.

That brings us more or less to tonight’s SmackDown. It’s a taped Go-Home Show so that our performers can make it over to Saudi Arabia and get some needed rest before the show. WWE had its press conference earlier today and it looks like they enjoyed themselves. To support Logan Paul, Jake Paul was in attendance, fresh off his recent exhibition win over Anderson Silva. It appears that The Paul Brothers will be a united front on Saturday Night. Roman Reigns will have most of The Bloodline on his side save for Sami “Uso” Zayn. Due to his Syrian heritage, there may be inherent reasons for him not to attend, an unfortunate reality of these Saudi shows. We have to respect that these politics have been in place for ages. A little pro-wrestling isn’t gonna stop it now. That plus warnings of potential terrorist activity make this a bit dicier show than usual but it seems WWE is pressing on. Let’s hope that there’s no more drama than planned.

As we wait and see, we’ll see GUNTHER face Rey Mysterio for the Intercontinental Title. Sonya Deville will see if Liv Morgan really understands what she’s getting into as they have themselves a No DQ Match. LA Knight will see if Ricochet can help him keep from getting mistaken for someone’s older brother or uncle. And MVP will see if Braun Strowman is in fact ready for Omos. Relax and have fun out there tonight. Given the circumstances, there probably won’t be the best turn out tonight so, there’s less pressure to slay it on the wit. Not to say you shouldn’t aspire to demonstrate intelligence. I’m just saying you shouldn’t have to worry as much about being judged. Go ahead and try the joke. Why not? If it lands and I see it, I’ll retweet it. If you surpass the mark, you get Liked too. Could be worse, right?

See You in a Bit,

-Nicole Alexis (^_~)
