Night of Champions in the KSA...

 How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?

Who’s opting for a BBQ? I’m doing our own version with the family. That’s why I’ll be watching at my leisure during the 5 o’clock hour on the California coast. Regardless, that doesn’t stop the Matches of Interest. They’re pretty obvious but that’s why we’re talking about them. Shall we?

First up, word is that Seth Rollins and AJ Styles may open so, we’ll see if that comes to pass. This is interesting because first of all, for a “Heavyweight Championship”, these guys aren’t so heavy yet, that doesn’t mean there isn’t gravitas. Both of them have earned their stripes and we know that they can perform and entertain. It should be a good match but who would win?

Well, the thing about this is, many of us know that Seth Rollins is filming since he has entered the MCU. I’m not sure of the schedule but what’s clear is, it’s probably not a good idea to put the Title on someone who probably won’t be around.

However, Rollins is terribly hot right now. With audiences chanting his entrance music, his popularity is undeniable. And there are ways to make it work. He could go “part time” and flaunt how he has to take time off to shoot a film or something. Would he vacate the Title? Never! It looks better on him anyway and the WWE Universe would have to “suffer”.  People would become resentful because everything revolves around his schedule. He could have a great time.

On the other hand, AJ Styles could use a title run. It would be a bit surprising if you didn’t know the circumstances. I wouldn’t be upset at this but it would have to be done in heroic fashion. Since Rollins is so much better as a Heel, Styles has to be an honorable Face. And I think that’s probably a better persona for Styles as well.

He’s always been stilted on the mic and his slight southern twang doesn’t always command respect. He’s an “everyman” when you just look at him. The same can be said for Rollins but he has made something of himself. Not to say Styles hasn’t but he comes off as more honest. What you see is what you get. That honesty is something Rollins lacks and the flamboyant swagger reinforces that.

If Styles is to win, it should be clean and seemingly against all odds but not too overtly so. Cody Rhodes has that covered 😉 This should be a “sleeper hit”. We know they can do their jobs but can Styles win us over with a gutsy win? Anything is possible. We’ll be happy if they just do their jobs anyway.

Speaking of Cody Rhodes, his match with Brock Lesnar is next. Well, it’s a “broken arm” this time. At least it’s a kayfabe injury. I’d rather it be that way. And Rhodes is playing up the melodrama enough to make the kafabery palatable. So, will it amount to a good match? Certainly. This could be Match of the Night but I feel only if they’re not trying to be so.

You see how this match could easily get ridiculous. How broken Rhodes’ arm is will always be a point to lose belief. Yet, at the same time, we don’t expect him to go all Jeremy Strong-style into method acting to sell it. It’s best if Lesnar is Lesnar and Rhodes is Rhodes. They need to just allow themselves to do what they each do best. They may surprise themselves.

So, that leaves the match for all the Gold. Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn vs. Roman Reigns & Solo Sikoa. This should be a fun one. And to be honest it’s all it need be. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with Owens and Zayn retaining but something tells me some drama may blur the lens, so to speak.

It’s doubtful it remains clean though, I think it wouldn’t hurt if that’s the initial intention, to carry out a fair fight. But these things always deteriorate into madness. I wouldn’t be surprised if The Usos dive in when the going gets tough. This could cause some turmoil. Perhaps that’s just it. Perhaps Reigns feels the need to settle something. If they get it done, there should be no question of the outcome. Maybe this is the new direction of The Bloodline. The Usos are undeniable. So, why wouldn’t The Bloodline be? How else do The Usos have their undeniability? A win should be unquestionable. They shouldn’t have to rig the game. The game should already be won.

Interference could be the ultimate offense because it infringes upon their integrity. Now, they can be denied. Never mind that was always the case in recent years. Does this mean The Bloodline is fractured? Who knows but it can lead to drama.

They could also shock us all and have the match run clean but if they do that it would be in The Bloodline’s favor to establish a point similar to what I just stated. It would be to usher in a new era of undisputed dominance. Hence, holding all Gold.

I only say this because there is nothing wrong with Owens & Zayn retaining. But with a…burgeoning Tag Team Division, who do we want to see fight them? Personally, Reigns & Sikoa are more entertaining to me. Perhaps it’s my rough and tumble nature but I like to watch a fight. I like my wrestlers annihilated. How are Owens & Zayn gonna do that?

Now, I can understand the argument that this could kill the Tag Team Division but I think it could help. Whoever dethrones them should earn it fair and square. So, if a team wants to be the poster boys of change, they better be more entertaining or just as entertaining as Reigns & Sikoa. It’s quite possible. I think the gauntlet should be thrown down and we should see who rises to the challenge. I’d watch a solid attempt to make it interesting.

And so, that’s what I got to say about it. I hope it’s a good time. Looking forward to it. I’ll be sitting there relaxed and well-fed. It’s what a three-day holiday should be all about. Let’s see how everyone else keeps pace. I’m always up for a shocking banger. Let’s see if anyone proves me wrong for not talking about them.

See You in a Bit,

-Nicole Alexis (^_~)
