Night of Champions - RAW Fallout

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts!

Are you enjoying the day off if you have it? Most of us in the United States have the federal holiday of Memorial Day off and I have to say that it’s always nice to have a 3-day weekend. WWE took advantage and had a couple PPVs if you count NXT’s offering. Let’s discuss, shall we?

Well, WWE can rest easy this week as word has it AEW’s PPV, Double or Nothing didn’t quite hit the mark. I saw some comments along the lines of it being “boring” so, WWE is definitely going in the right direction as the PPVs of late have been quite entertaining. Night of Champions was no different.

Most feel the 3rd and final “main event” with Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn battling the Bloodline in the form of Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa was Match of the Night. I just have to say that Zayn addressing the crowd in Arabic was very heartwarming. It’s always nice to have real moments like that which put the whole event in proper prospective.

That did give way to the drama in the end though as we saw the Bloodline fracture before our eyes. Jimmy Uso has chosen defiance and did issue a Super Kick to Roman Reigns so now, the planned “1000 Day” Celebration scheduled for this Friday is marred by a gross display of disrespect. The question now is how will Reigns respond?

That’s the only thing about moves like this. If they don’t have an endgame, this drama can fall flat fast. What will be the repercussions? My guess is that Jimmy gets ostracized. Jey and Sikoa probably become the Bloodline Tag Team while Jimmy gets banned from work until he makes his proper apologies.

I don’t see Reigns taking him out for some reason. I feel that if Reigns is to be a believable “Tribal Chief” to resort to counter violence would backfire. An example has to be made of Jimmy so that it is clear to defy the Tribal Chief is not taken lightly. It's what I would do but we’ll see. We all know that this can’t be let go. We’ll see if they keep it interesting.

There were a few upsets last Saturday night as well as Asuka is now our RAW Women’s Champion and Trish Stratus showed us she’s still got a few tricks up her sleeve to defeat Becky Lynch.

A slight surprise was Seth Rollins picking up the new Heavyweight Championship. Like I said, popularity-wise it’s a no-brainer but I thought his schedule would hang it in the balance but I suppose they’ll work with it. Rollins being in business for himself, he doesn’t have to be an honorable champion.

All in all, it was a successful PPV that felt less like an exhibition than the previous “Crown Jewel” shows in Saudi Arabia so these jaunts abroad are becoming acceptable, a sign of progress. WWE should be very proud of themselves.

Now, we are back stateside and must face the Fallout of the weekend’s events. We’ll see if any NXT business spills over but for now, we’ll probably see what Cody Rhodes has to say after being “rendered unconscious” by Brock Lesnar. There was some fan disapproval for that match but there was clearly a plan going in if Rhodes is to have a “broken arm”. Maybe Rhodes put in for some time off or something.

Looks like the Ladies will crown new Tag Team Champions tonight as they’ve got a Fatal-4-Way to look forward to for settling the matter. And Rollins will probably swing by and gloat as the fans sing his theme. There’s plenty more that could happen but I can’t speculate. I’ll tune in during the 8 o’clock hour over here on the West Coast. Feel free to join in if you’re able.

See You in a Bit,

-Nicole Alexis (^_~)
