BackLash Fallout - SmackDown

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?

Happy Friday. So, I wouldn’t say it’s a slow news day in the Wrestling World but there isn’t much for me to chat about so I’ll keep this short. Let’s get into it.

First item of note is that there is talk that AEW has struck a “billion dollar deal” with Warner Discovery to air AEW content for the next 5 years. There’s no confirmation on this. Word is Tony Khan isn’t saying anything so, I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

On that note, it appears that CM Punk is set to return to AEW via the Collision PPV slated for June. Naturally, the event is to be held in Chicago and is supposed to focus on our grumpy grappler. It's going to be interesting to see how this goes down.

Sounds like AEW is playing up the drama to help it go over with live crowds. We’ll have to see if they’re successful. I think they can be if they have a lot of fun with it. Like I keep saying, go ahead and make Punk the “Scourge of Wrestling”.

In the WWE Universe we got an update on Mr. Robert Roode. Poor guy had to have a second spinal fusion surgery. That sounds like that put a fast approaching expiration date on his career but hopefully he has a few more left in him. Roode is a true professional and veteran of the trade. His knowledge will be missed once he officially hangs up the boots. Let’s wish him a thorough and complete recovery.

And so that brings us to tonight’s SmackDown. Too bad it couldn’t be on a happier note but c’est la vie. Tonight we officially close the books on Backlash and set our sights on Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia at the end of the month. This is what gets Roman Reigns out of the house for an appearance. He’ll have to decide what to do with The Usos and their “subpar” performance of late.

Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez will also return to have a dance with Damage CTRL. We’ll also see who will face Seth Rollins for the new Title belt up for grabs. Just like with RAW we’ll have 2 Triple Threat matches. One will feature Edge, Rey Mysterio and AJ Styles. The other will have Bobby Lashley, Sheamus and Austin Theory. For everything else, we’ll have to watch.

I will be on the move this evening so I’ll be checking in later tonight. So, if you’re a night owl and/or simply have other plans, feel free to join me, probably around 11pm PDT. I got business tomorrow so I gotta knock it out. Thank the heavens for DVR.

See You Later,

-Nicole Alexis (^_~)
