WrestleMania 41 - RAW Fallout

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?

WrestleMania is over and we now come to terms with the new “reality”. Iyo Sky succeeded. Cody Rhodes failed and it looks like Rusev has returned along with Becky Lynch. It’s a lot to consider. Let’s take a moment to break it down and digest.

Though, most fans enjoyed Day 2 on the whole many didn’t care for the finish of Travis Scott coming in and clearing the way for Cena to win. It wasn’t quite as cut and dry as it sounds but the end result was what it was.

Personally, I didn’t really mind it. Cena was all business out there and looked poised to end things on his terms. Rhodes hung in there but we kinda new the odds would be stacked against him, we just didn’t know in what way. Scott coming in to fudge the outcome did make things a bit anticlimactic but that was the problem with the whole set up from the get-go.

This is why I would have preferred Cena to be more blatantly Heel as opposed to “Anti-Face”. This quest to “ruin wrestling” seems delusional at best. I’m sure many purists would say that happened 30 years ago. I think fans could respect a more deliberate Heel Turn than this philosophical one any day. They decided to go this route, we’ll see if they make a U-turn.

As for Match of the Night, most would vouch for the Women’s Triple Threat for the Women’s Championship and I would have to agree, though I feel I have to mention how the fickleness of The Crowd was quite prevalent this year. Instead of jeers, Dominik Mysterio winning the Intercontinental Championship went over far better than I ever would have expected. The same goes for Cena’s win. People went from disapproving to celebrating his 17th Title win and people ought to note the lack of consistency.

It's this sort of thing that led the Old Guard to do what they please. Look at how we change on a dime and don’t even have a valid reason for jeering or cheering. Now, I’ll say that this may be more an American Crowd thing but since we get the bulk of the live shows, everyone could potentially suffer for the flippant responses of late.

I stress the “could” because the Old Guard isn’t in charge but you can see how this could lead to a similar response of “Whatever…” to us.  If we don’t demonstrate a code of conduct or a sense of consistency, that does open the door to whatever the fuck so try to at least have a valid reason for booing and/or cheering otherwise, don’t be surprised when we get whatever the fuck.

In any case, I liked Night 1 the most. The Paul Heyman Drama was just too satisfying and for personal reasons I appreciate the Rise of the Architect. Seeing how Lynch Heel Turned tonight from the spoilers, I think that’s why right there. With Rollins a Heyman Guy wouldn’t that make Lynch a Heyman Gal by default 😉 This shift in power is fine by me. It bodes well for the Future. We’ll see how it proceeds but a lot can happen in the next couple of years, is all I’m saying.

And so, this brings us to tonight’s RAW Fallout. We’ll hear from our New Undisputed Champion in Jey Uso. Both Seth Rollins and Paul Heyman will address the new order. And John Cena will solidify his ill-begotten “GOAT” status.

The unofficial replay party will begin during the 8 o’clock hour, Pacific Time. It may be closer to 9pm but I’ll get it in. Got to get back into the proverbial saddle.

See You in a Bit,

-Nicole Alexis (^_~)
