SmackDown Takes Instruction on Finishing Touches for Money in the Bank...
How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?
It’s another hot one in Southern California. Today is supposed to be the worst of it but we’ll see if this is a precursor to how the summer is going to be. As for the Wrestling World, we have some things to chat about. Probably more thought provoking than most times so, let’s not take any more time. Let’s get into it.
In the Realm of AEW, the Fallout of their Double or Nothing PPV showed Jon Moxley and the Death Riders or the “Riders of Death” as I might start to call them, confidently dispatch of the rag-tag teaming of Mike “Speedball” Bailey, Mark Briscoe and Willow Nightingale. Guess the Young Bucks eating the thumbtack sneaker stomp means the loss just rolls off their backs. They resumed wreaking havoc as if nothing happened. I liked how Nightingale wasn’t taking any guff out there, though 😉
I don’t mind this, but I do hope it leads to the next chapter of rivals getting their panties in a bunch. Mox seems to be ever so subtly egging them on so, someone should start to remember why they can’t stand the sight of him. The tone seems a bit complacent at the moment. People have to start getting pissed but just “start”. There’s time but if I didn’t like him I’d start to get the “Who the hell does he think he is…” kind of feathers ruffled up. The Future must be tended to if it is to remain Bright.
In other AEW News, MVP has made it clear that he just doesn’t care for Triple H and he emphasized how this has less to do about race and more to do with character and with that, he has no respect for him. It’s hard to comment on this because I do not know anything about the Triple H outside of the persona portrayed on TV. I’ve never met him and have not witnessed any candid interactions so, I can’t really say if there is any foundation to MVP’s dislike. All I can say is that not everyone is going to click. I wouldn’t call Triple H a saint by any stretch of the word but given my limited experience, I’ll just leave this as MVP is wholly entitled to his opinion. There’s plenty of people I can’t stand too.
On the periphery of the AEW borders, we hear that Mariah May is no longer listed on the AEW website for the current roster. There have been rumors that she would be WWE bound but this development seem to confirm them. I haven’t seen enough of her to really say whether this will take or not but she does have the right look. Guess we’ll see how it goes.
On the outskirts of the WWE Universe, there are reports that Vince McMahon has founded a private investment firm with a focus on sports, media and entertainment. I suppose if one has some cash lying around and wants to dip their toe in on backing a new franchise or brand, they can inquire. This may be what prompted all that recent talk of McMahon trying to found a new wrestling company or even trying to buy back WWE. Looks like he was up to something. Well, he never seemed the type to just relax and golf. Just don’t do business with him if you don’t like the press.
Well, it’s not the best segue but it basically brings us to the WWE Universe and tonight’s SmackDown. Go-Home Week for Money in the Bank is next week and so the finishing touches are being laid. Tonight we can at least expect a couple qualifying matches as Jade Cargill, Nia Jax and Naomi battle for a spot in the Women’s Ladder Match. Cargill is the odd woman out on paper but Naomi has been embracing bad very well and Jax has finally figured out how to have a good match so, this could be an interesting one. For the boys, Andrade, Jacob Fatu and Carmelo Hayes will throw down. If Fatu is smart, he’ll wait for his spot while Andrade and Hayes go for it for the 157th time. Bianca Belair will stop by while her fingers heal and both John Cena and Cody Rhodes should be in attendance. If they’ll be face to face is another matter.
The unofficial watch party should commence at 8pm PDT. Can’t be lax when things are on cable. However, it’ll be cooler so I understand if my West Coast cats take advantage of the night to have some fun. All you homebodies have a friend in me.
See You in a Bit,
-Nicole Alexis (^_~)
