SmackDown Only Knows How to Follow Suit...
How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?
Happy Good Friday, regardless of your belief
system. Easter is special to me because I am an “Easter Baby”. I was born on an
Easter Weekend π So, happy birthday to all the other Easter Babies
out there! We’re a special breed.
In any case, as far as the Wrestling World is
concerned, there are some things going on. Enough for me to have a decent chat
so let’s get into it and then you can go off to your weekend, whatever you choose
to do with it.
In the Ream of AEW, the big news is the return of
Chris Jericho. He greeted the Dynamite Crowd in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
and then left it to everyone else to have a great show. From what I witnessed
it was a solid show. I checked in on the PAC vs. Will Osprey match and it worked
out much like I thought. PAC is a little beast, I tell ya. He’s made of
different stuff, which is why it’s hard for me to accept his losses but we’ll
just say he “got ahead of himself” this time around and Osprey pulled out the
win. Didn’t save him from catching a post-match beating, though. And some cautionary
words from Our Man Jon Moxley.
They had a little scuffle after Jericho skipped out
too and that looked more like a little brother mad at his big brother to me. Just
tired of Mox’s shit. I appreciated how Mox kinda just took it. Leading me to
believe that riling Osprey up is all part of the plan. Hence his cautionary
words after PAC’s match to not take this all “too seriously”. Osprey wouldn’t want
to “lose his head” now would he.
I like this. There are seeds for the Future sprinkled
all about with everyone none the wiser of what is due to sprout. Keep up the
good work. And on that note, Uncle Edge and Papa Christian were on hand looking
to beatdown FTR for whatever. What caught my eye was Christian set to take out
RenΓ©e Paquette backstage while she was interviewing Edge to back up Edge’s
sentiment of taking out “anyone who stands in their way”. Edge is the sensible one
of this duo and stopped him but that, to me, was also a hint of foreshadowing.
I wonder if Papa Christian ever opts to draw out Mox through Paquette later on.
It’s a great way to catch a beating, set Mox off and require, “extreme measures”
to keep that “psycho” under control. It’s an option, is all I’m saying for the
Future π
Mox was back at it again last night as well for a Thursday
showing of Collision. He took on this chap, Anthony Bowens who looks
like David Otunga’s nephew. It was a fun bout as Mox let Bowens shine before taking
him out. Mox looked like he had fun with the kid and it was humorous to watch
at times, so good on Mox on allowing for some levity. He can be funny when he
wants to be. After that was done, of course, what I would say an Osprey gone
commando attacked Mox but the Riders of Death are always nearby and they rescued
their leader. But the point of this was for Osprey to add a new stipulation for
the upcoming PPV, Dynasty. The Continental Championship is now on the line.
I’ll say that Osprey has shown that he can forget
the numbered canvas when he’s “pissed” enough and so far, that’s good enough
for me. Mox cut a promo later in the show that alludes to this all being part of
the plan and in the end, he’ll let Osprey do the work of taking himself out.
Always the easiest way to get that sort of job done. We’ll see if that comes to
pass.
Over in the WWE Universe, there’s a minor return as
well as John Cena has been tapped as host of this year’s WrestleMania. Many are
saying this is a “desperation move” due to so-so ticket sales but given how
expensive they are, I’m expecting the rush to come at the last minute. Don’t blame
people for being savvy. Have to be in a bad economy. We’ll see if Cena does
more than serve as the intermission.
As for tonight’s SmackDown, there’s a few
things we can look forward to. Alexa Bliss & Charlotte Flair will finish
what they started with Bayley & Lyra Valkyria. Jacob Fatu and Drew McIntyre
also try to settle things once and for all in an Unsanctioned Match. That should
be fun. Sami Zayn continues to have an “identity crisis” while holding the US Championship.
We’ll see how these particular Open Challenges go. Rhea Ripley will address
Jade Cargill’s new baddie faction. And Cody Rhodes will see if he can snake-handle
The Viper, Randy Orton. He’s gonna need a huge basket.
I don’t have to cook tonight but I have the duties
for the weekend so I’ll enjoy my night off. We get started, as usual, at 8pm PDT.
You know where to find me.
See You in a Bit,
-Nicole Alexis (^_~)
