Saturday Night: Main Event (VIII)

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?

Welcome to Saturday Night: Main Event! I think it will be an interesting time. I’m not expecting to have my mind blown but I don’t expect to demand my money back either. 

Since I’ve been rambling on recently, this shouldn’t be too long. I’m looking at the underdogs tonight. I’m curious about Lyra Valkyria vs. Bayley and Danhausen vs. JD McDonagh. 

Valkyria and Bayley caught my eye because this appears to be following the Game of Thrones motif, more in practice than in the figurative which I don’t mind. Bayley is Our Arya Stark and let’s face it, probably the closest we’re gonna get from here on out so, why not let her serve as a proverbial alternate universe version. 

If Arya Stark were say…living in this time, and had to make her living, Bayley’s path would be feasible. So, you could say, she’d know how to handle a Valkyria. Technically, it’s “family” if we’re going to go with the House Arryn interpretation. They too have a touch of madness. She should be poised yet sympathetic. She also had her own break. Perhaps they “help each other” in the end. Yet, they just have to have a good match for me to be happy. We’ll see how it all…works out.

Then, we have good JD McDonagh facing the “evil” Danhausen. I wonder what this does for McDonagh. How does he “win” here? We have to suppose that Danhausen gets “the best” of him somehow so, how does he get our positive consideration anyway? To me, this is the assignment for him.

Danhausen is comedic relief. All he has to do is get a few laughs and wrestle better than you think he would, which he’s demonstrated he can do. I expected absolutely nothing and he’s impressed. So, I’m intrigued to see McDonagh make something out of nothing. Yet, there’s no shame in just playing the foil.

That’s all I got to say on it. Let’s gather round and see if it’s 2 hours well spent. 

Everyone else should know the general assignment by now. We’ll be watching to see if they nail it. I’ll accept an honest swing and a miss. The paying masses 🤷 Have fun out there!
