RAW Hasn't Heard Anything New. Crown Jewel Remains the Goal...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?

Happy Halloween Week! The Wrestling World is kinda quiet at the moment so this shouldn’t be that long of a post but I’ve got a few things to talk about so, let’s not delay. Here we go.

In the rogue City-State of MLW they made the most of their hour. The match of note had Lady Frost again up against Saya Kamitani of H.A.T.E. over from Stardom. We got to see more of what Kamitani is about and I like these ๅฅณ้”. They’re young but they get it. They got my vote of approval. The Coffey Boys do too even if you need subtitles sometimes. I love that sort of thing. Bring it on!

In the Realm of AEW, Collision seemed to serve as the Jay White show at least for the opening and closing. One of the first orders of business was to retire the “Bang Bang Gang” which is nothing but a good idea. Yet, the new tag of the Last Outfit seems to have already gotten switched out for The Cut. Most commenters aren’t sold on either but the majority seem to feel that The Cut is better than the Last Outfit.

This may be a place where they can insert some humor and have a running gag with the name changing on the reg until they land on something everyone can agree on. I had that idea for some other faction but I don’t remember which. White seems to play Heel kinda cheekily so they can have fun with members voicing their choices for faction name from time to time. Just a suggestion. I always opt for humor when in doubt.

As for the action, I stayed focused on the Riders of Death and Jay White since he’s the official primary nemesis. The Riders set their tone by scrapping with Shane Taylor Promotions. These guys and gals like to just fight so the Riders obliged. Everybody got to play in this one so it was Marina Shafir who picked up the Rider win.

Since White opened the show calling out the Riders, Jon Moxley took a little time at the end of the match to answer the call. If they want some, come get some was essentially the vibe. Ball’s in Mox’s court so we’ll see how fun this gets.

White closed out the show taking out Kyle O’Reilly but naturally that couldn’t be the end of it. White’s crew had to come out and rub it in O’Reilly’s face so O’Reilly’s crew, the Conglomeration had to back him up but The Cut has got more people so the Riders show up. These alliances are new so it’s easy to get a little mixed up. In the kerfuffle, Orange Cassidy accidentally took out Mox so White helped himself to Cassidy and that was that. Looks like the Faces will have to at least get on the same page if they want to stand a chance.

The only notes I have for this outing pertain to not trying too hard out there. For me, it seemed I could see the words on the page, so to speak. The action seemed a little too deliberate. You could see that everyone was just trying to hit their spots as opposed to just go for it. I can understand it, though. With things up in the air and talks being held with the new overlords in Skydance, I can understand not wanting to look a mess out there like they do sometimes but the scrappiness is kind of an AEW trademark in my honest opinion.

I noticed that they’re trying to update Steve Borden’s look too and I get it. Just trying to look respectable but don’t forget your roots. AEW should be an alternative to WWE not just a second-rate option. The more it’s its own thing, the better. Embrace what you guys bring to the table. I would say it is where the best wrestle. If you’re into pro-wrestling, AEW should be your spot. WWE is more where the athletic and/or charismatic come to become stars while fighting. Wrestling is kinda optional. Scrappy pro-wrestling is what AEW brings to the table so double-down on it. Leave the polished, staged affairs to WWE.

That’s not to say that AEW shouldn’t aspire for more, but on its own terms. That’s what it has going for it and I wouldn’t stray to try to impress new bosses with what someone thinks they want to see. If they’re going to survive, they need to have that special something. That won’t show if they try to be a stripped-down WWE. Be AEW tried and true, take or leave it. That’s what I’d do. Guess we’ll see what they do. I’m rooting for ‘em and I’ll be watching…you know, what grasps my attention ๐Ÿ˜‰

In the WWE Universe, we wait to hear how Crown Jewel will be handled. It’s still scheduled as planned but there’s a general consensus that it probably won’t be held in Saudi Arabia. It’s not impossible that the war in Iran gets resolved between now and Nov. 7th but it’s seeming a bit unrealistic. All we know for sure is that any contingencies plans won’t be dropped until the last minute so, stand by.

In the meantime, for tonight’s RAW we can expect to see the Ladies in action as Bayley throws down with Lyra Valkyria in a No Disqualification Match. Raquel Rodriguez will try to knock Iyo Sky out of the air. We’ll have our offering to the Wrestling Gods as Chad Gable pairs with Dragon Lee to take on Big Cass and Ethan Page. And if you’ve missed anything, we’ll get caught up on the 946 Problem.

Looks like this week and the next will be 6:30pm PDT starts and then we’ll get into the 7pm start time. It’s been a long time coming but I figure this adjustment shouldn’t be too jarring. It’s just 30 minutes later. Swing by if you got the time. I understand. You got other things to do.

See You in a Bit,

-Nicole Alexis (^_~)
