SmackDown Sets the Table for WrestleMania...

Image
Happy WrestleMania Eve, Enthusiasts! There’s a lot of buzz and speculation circulating. It’s hard to say what to believe per usual but some things can be deduced. Let’s break it down shall we.  So, the word is that Roman Reigns is slated to main event SummerSlam. If that is so, then we can anticipate another bullshit win for Reigns at WrestleMania. Yet, if WWE can make that win intriguing and maybe set up the Reigns vs. The Rock match for SummerSlam I don’t oppose it. However, those “Cody Crybabies” are definitely not going to like seeing Cody Rhodes lose. I don’t think it will be on par with when Drew McIntyre had to take out Brock Lesnar a few years ago but if they don’t execute it correctly, they’ll deflate what would otherwise be considered a fun night.  Conversely, that rumor could be disinformation. Get us all half-mad about something that doesn’t  happen so when what does go down happens, we have an even bigger pop! We can dream, I suppose but as They say, go ahead and prepare f

RAW Brings Things Down to a Simmer Ahead of WrestleMania....

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts!   A merry WrestleMania week to you. Are you excited? I’ll be honest, I’m a little more geared up for it than usual. The past couple years have been far more promising than the previous 10 so, that is saying something. Notice how my tone has changed. I’m not riffing on this stuff nearly as much as I used to. Never thought I’d see the day. It’s nice. It’s promising. Things do change. That said, there’s some news fluttering around the Wrestling World. Shall we get in to it? Allow me.   So, the WWE Universe is taking full advantage of the time of year. WrestleMania is the biggest show of the year and to lead up, we got the Roman Reigns biography on Peacock and CM Punk with Ariel Helwani to drop some truth bombs. Personally, I think Punk’s interview probably has more substance. I hazard to believe anything that the WWE produces in regard to its talent. As much as people feel kayfabe is dead, it’s only because people believe it is. I believe it is alive a

SmackDown Turns the Fire Down to Medium-High Before WrestleMania...

What’s Going On, Enthusiasts? Happy Friday! So, there are a few things to chat about across the Wrestling World today. Again, nothing devastating or surprising but something to explore. Are you ready? Let’s do it. We’ll start in the Kingdom of TNA today, as Ash by Elegance f.k.a. Dana Brooke seems a little bitter about the popularity of the up and coming Tiffany Stratton. Claims she’s stealing moves and getting all the credit. Well, I won’t really comment on that because this is the first I’m seeing of Stratton and so far, I see the appeal. To me, she’s a knock-off or impersonation of the video game character Tiffany Lords from Rival Schools: United by Fate. She doesn’t seem as ditzy and doesn’t wear the oversized boxing gloves but that’s what comes to mind when I see her. The character is probably older than her but all I’m saying is that her copying Brooke never came to mind.  Like I keep saying, this industry is a popularity contest, especially in the WWE Universe. People gravitate

RAW Looks for Something Combustible but Green for WrestleMania....

What’s Going On, Enthusiasts!   How’s everyone doing? So, we’ve got a few things to chat about this evening. Nothing too shocking but it’s enough to have a little conversation. You up for it? Let’s break these things down.   First item of WWE business comes courtesy of a semi-disgruntled Ronda Rousey. She’s now spilling all sorts of tea. She claims a slap she took from Stephanie McMahon back in 2018 caused a concussion and that she would have walked sooner if she didn’t get to work with Shayna Baszler. Apparently, Rousey has a long history of concussions and appears to have been susceptible during her stint with WWE. I can sympathize with this but it comes off like Rousey went into things a little naïve.   I’m no sports entertainer but I can see that there’s a lot of physicality in this genre of entertainment. It may be scripted but you take your hits. If Rousey wasn’t prepared for that, she should have taken another route. Maybe become a martial arts trainer or something.

SmackDown Keeps the WrestleMania Fires Stoked...

Happy Friday, Enthusiasts!   This week seemed a little long to me so, I’m glad it’s over. We got a few things to chat about before we get into tonight’s offerings so, let’s get started.   First up, we’ll begin in the Realm of AEW. The bad news first as it appears Lana/CJ Perry and Rusev/Miro have decided to uncouple. It seems like their relationship was fairly open-ended though they are married. It doesn’t sound like any poor conduct is really to blame. They aim to remain friends and work together but they seem to want to explore other people. I guess they know enough about each other and are just ready to move on. It happens and I’m glad they’re mature enough to acknowledge that. Let’s wish them well in their new personal endeavors.   Another bit of AEW news is that Mercedes Moné aka Sasha Banks debuted over there this week on Dynamite. So far, the reception isn’t the best according to reports. Ratings didn’t really tick up and commenters weren’t impressed with her Babyfa

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? Life treating you well? It was a mildly eventful weekend with the Oscars taking place in my neck of the woods. We actually have a slight tie in with that so, lets get right into it.   Before we touch on that, word has dropped that Nick Khan has been named in the sex trafficking allegations. Not sure if that means if he is accused or simply privy but it shows how far and deep this “ick” goes. Well, let’s be adults. Would be naïve to think that he didn’t know something. But participating is another matter. We’ll see what comes out.   In lighter news, John Cena had a little “chilly” fun at the Oscars this past Sunday. In order to present the Best Costume category he headed out naked to commemorate the streaker that crashed the show in the 70s. It was a cute little bit and Cena keeps in shape so it was fun. You can find it online with relative ease. Go ahead and take a look if you haven’t already.   Elsewhere, with RAW scheduled to stop in Chicag

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? Everything okay on this Daylight Savings Weekend? Hope it’s all right. As we may all have our plights and tribulations, always remember that it could be worse rather than it could be better. In any case, there’s not much grabbing my attention at the end of this week. There’s some goings-on, as always, but nothing I care to unpack. However, I feel we should congratulate the WWE Universe’s quintessential little brother in Dominik Mysterio on his recent nuptials. The young lad got married this week and it’s just nice to see him growing up. Gets me a little verklempt. May their lives be blessed and fruitful! Besides that, it’s on to tonight’s SmackDown. We can expect The Rock and Roman Reigns to return so that Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins can tell them to their faces how they really feel. Bobby Lashley will find himself enthralled with Karrion Kross. Randy Orton and Kevin Owens don’t like these new kids in Austin Theory and Grayson Waller. They’re going to t

What’s Going On, Enthusiasts?   This Monday treating you well? I do hope so. It’s a Monday all right but I’ve certainly had worse. There are few things to talk about this evening. It’s the end of an era so to speak so let’s get into it.   In the Realm of AEW, they had their Revolution PPV and it also served as retirement party for the enigma that is Sting. I missed out on this guy. I just remember him making better use of The Crow face paint than the franchise. I didn't witness what made him so iconic. And when he came to WWE, he was simply too old. Not to say he got any younger with AEW but you see what I mean. No way this guy was getting much ring time wrassling at 107.   I try to live in accordance with Parkour so I try to only go forward. I don’t care to revisit the past unless for research purposes. I won’t likely go find his epic past matches and educate myself but I do take everyone’s word for it. He’s been around this long and definitely makes an impression so,

SmackDown Closes the Books on Elimination Chamber...

Happy Friday, Enthusiasts! Are you enjoying it? Meh, I’ve had worse, that’s for sure. Gotta make sure something gets done is all but for the most part, can’t complain. But, let me take a moment and say hello to all the aficionados from Singapore dropping in. I don’t know what adult site I’m popping up on but I appreciate the traffic.  I actually have spent a few hours in Singapore in my youth. While I was in college, I studied abroad in Japan and during Spring Break I went to Thailand and had a layover there. I was with friends and I remember having a good time, for waiting for a flight. We wandered around and napped. In any case, welcome! There’s not much but I hope you enjoy what you find. As for the Wrestling World, there’s not much going on but a few things caught my eye. Shall we have a brief chat on these matters? Let’s. Well, AEW seems to be having a tough time giving itself some sense of direction. Some of the old WWE problems appear to be cropping up as talent are showing up

Elimination Chamber is Over! RAW Shows Us the Fallout....

Image
How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?   It’s a lightly rainy night in Southern California and the Elimination Chamber has come and gone. It was one of the finer ones if not the best I’ve ever seen. I fast-forwarded through the Kick-Off Show so I missed the Women’s Tag Team match but I caught everything else. I think we got some character development this PPV. We know our players a little better now. Shall we get into the implications? Maybe just a little.   So, general consensus is that the Women’s Elimination Chamber Match was Match of the Night. Personally, I preferred the Men’s Tag Team Match. Tyler Bate and Pete Dunne gave us a preview of the future, just as they were supposed to, and it’s looking quite bright. In the meantime, Finn Bálor and Damian Priest secured some street-cred and came off like a pair you don’t want to mess with. I found it satisfying.   We also got confirmation that AJ Styles is now in Yosemite Sam mode as he can’t stand the friggin-fraggin, no-good likes o

Elimination Chamber 2024 - Matches of Interest

Image
How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? Did you like Elimination Chamber? I’m about to check it out for myself. Given the nature of this particular PPV, where it is, is the big deal so I’m not so put out by having to catch up after the fact. I am looking forward to PPV’s becoming more global and so, posts will be as they are in those cases. Life doesn’t stop because they decided to go down under. As for the matches that have my interest, there aren’t many given there are only 4 on the card so, I’m looking at the Tag Team more than anything else. Pete Dunne has been allowed to reclaim himself and Tyler Bate definitely makes a case for those with skill as opposed to size. I managed to avoid spoilers so far, being out and about makes that relatively easy, but given that these blokes are still up and coming in terms of the main roster, I doubt they take the titles but hopefully they make it clear that they might someday. Besides that, the only thing I’m looking at is “The Grayson Waller Effect”. Give

SmackDown Leaves Us a Note Before Elimination Chamber...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts! Happy Friday and Elimination Chamber Eve. The festivities have already begun in Australia and those who are up for it will stay up or wake up early to watch live. I will check in for the replay at about 4pm or 5pm PST. I’ll catch up while I treat it like any other PPV. Got other business during the day. That doesn’t mean we can’t chat a little about the week’s goings-ons. Let’s get into it. To start, we have some more admissions on the recent revelations regarding the scandals permeating WWE. Word is now that women weren’t the only victims. A fair share of men have suffered “uncomfortable” instances in the past as well, showing that inappropriate behavior may have been more commonplace than many would like to believe.  Personally, this isn’t that surprising to me. The 80’s were a very fluid time and with the drugs in the mix, sex being part of the equation isn’t much of a stretch. Doesn’t make it right but a lot of heinous shit has happened over the years.
