Well, the Date for Money in the Bank Is Here. Think Most of This Has Already Been Decided....

A Good Sunday to You, Enthusiasts!

Are we ready for Money in the Bank?  This is one of the more intriguing PPVs simply due to circumstance.  WrestleMania worked with an editing treatment so what will they do with MITB?  Well, what we have to hope for is that they don’t overdo it.  WrestleMania was handled tastefully.  What we don’t want is the action getting overshadowed by flashy editing and potential special effects.  What the WWE brings is more or less akin to the circus.  Now the circus concept has been refined more to the Cirque du Soliel sort of presentation in response to the humane treatment of animals.  Wild animals probably shouldn’t be trained for our amusement but since we humans have the ability to consent to spectacle, we are now the ones who subject ourselves to it.  It’s only fair.  So, the WWE shouldn’t ever want to lose a live audience but given times like these we must all become adaptable so this is the WWE’s test to see if it can produce good content live or filmed.  The skill will only serve them in the future so I’m in favor of experiment.  Let’s see what they come up with.

Since much of this has already been filmed and decided, I won’t speculate on much but I will comment on the matches I find interesting.  There are 3 that intrigue me.  First one is the match between Bayley & Tamina.  Here, if Tamina doesn’t take the title at MITB I hope she does in a rematch on SmackDown.  I say this because I feel Tamina’s due.  We all know that if we really broke down a real-time bout between them, Tamina would probably win unless Bayley brought in a baseball bat or something.  I’ve never liked these little women coming in and winning titles at 65 pounds.  Now, Bayley is a healthier option but Tamina has got to have at least 40-50lbs on her.  Like I keep saying, unless the smaller opponent has some sort of martial arts under their belt, matches like this should go according to how they look.  Yes, an opponent can be wily and outsmart a larger opponent but in this particular case, there’s more of a now or never vibe as well.  Tamina isn’t getting any younger so if she doesn’t take a title here, when will it ever happen?  Ideally, she’d win the title and retire.  Go out on top and let the little Bs fight over it later.  This could always be a bunch of bullshit for her and that’d be fine by me.  I would certainly believe it.

The other match of interest is the Drew McIntyre vs. Seth Rollins match for the WWE Title.  This little bit of drama has taken an interesting turn and I wonder how the WWE will handle it.  You have a delusional Rollins facing off against a McIntyre who may be slowly getting absorbed into some sort of megalomania which makes this a match more about lesser evils.  I don’t mind McIntyre, I’m even fine with the sprinklings of homoeroticism what he must be careful of is becoming too dark while dabbling in these themes.  If the tone is kept closer to a comic book, this could be a lot of fun, too much into graphic novel and questions arise.   This is a fun escape, no need to get immersed into anything too subversive.  We’ll see what they do with this.

The last match that got me scratching my head a bit is the one with Jeff Hardy and Cesaro.  After how Hardy came out on SmackDown with Sheamus, Cesaro seems to come out of nowhere.  It’s a shame because the nature of it leads me to believe that we shouldn’t expect Cesaro to win and that is too bad.  The WWE really just doesn’t know what to do with him.  I say, lean into that.  He’s the “Swiss Superman”, right?  Speaks like 4 or 5 languages?  Let him be the suave European.  Play him up more in backstage segments.  He can enter his bits all well-dressed, probably wrapping some call up in the language of his choice.  Then bits can close with attractive European types coming up to him discussing hot & sexy plans for after the show in English or probably a mix of whatever.  He could be portrayed more like something we’re missing out on.  Dumb Americans just don’t get it (^_~) I think if they get that to be a running theme for a while, fan interest may just get piqued.  That’s what I’d do with him.

Anyway, that’s what I’m gonna look out for.  Let’s see how they stitch this thing together.  Funny tweets get retweeted and as for Likes/Favorites, let’s take it easy.  These are new times we’re living in.  Take note of what works but lead with a big “E” for effort.  Trial and error is going to be the norm for a while.

See You in a Bit,

-Nicole Alexis (^_~)
