SmackDown Is Back on Clean-up Duty....
Happy Friday, Enthusiasts!
I actually am glad to
see it. That’s a good sign that we are getting back to normal. I love the end
of the week! So, let’s not dawdle. Let’s see what’s going on in the wrestling
world.
So, the big news is
that WWE is getting the high-pressure hose and is flushing out its ranks. I
don’t know if this was planned before or after this week’s RAW but I wouldn’t be surprised if the show didn’t help a lot of
people. After that stellar WrestleMania, they defaulted to 2 years ago? Why
would you want to do that?! Finally on the right track and they pull a U-turn
to nowhere? If they didn’t see that coming then there’s definitely something
wrong. Hopefully, these changes are for the best. Something needed to change
for a while and it looks like WWE is starting to agree. Let us pray things
don’t go from bad to worse.
Another bit of news is SmackDown related. Daniel Bryan’s contract
is up this year and the rumor is that he’s trying to re-sign with an option to
wrestle at other promotions. If Kenny Omega can do it, why can’t he? I don’t
mind this idea. I think it’s very forward thinking. The days of sticking to
your side of the street are fading in the wrestling world and there’s nothing
wrong with that because it ultimately benefits the industry by getting more
eyes on it. Why would one complain outside of simply preferring it the old way?
This industry needs progress. If it doesn’t evolve it’ll stagnate and ultimately
die. Let there be new growth!
In terms of the WWE
Universe, I think a lot of the common people in the regular world simply don’t
know what they’re missing but why would they? Watching it for some is absolutely
impossible. Even the naked men walking around can’t hold my mom’s interest. She
walks out or changes the channel after a few minutes. More eyes on the product
forces better content. Who wants to verify that they suck? Again, that may be
why WWE is cleaning house at the moment.
In other news, I like
that Pat McAfee graduated early and with honors after WrestleMania. He seems
like he’s having fun on commentary. Kinda feel that Corey Graves might be a
better counter for him, though. I can see how people may think that’s too much “Bro
energy” but if they’re adversarial with Graves being the Heel and McAfee the Face,
we probably could get some funny jabs going between ‘em. I can see them forgetting to call the match.
Maybe in a couple years. But I digress. After seeing McAfee’s match on NXT, I
wouldn’t be surprised if he’s got some wrestlers jealous for skipping the line but
he killed it. That’s what you’re supposed to go out and do. So, the jealousy is
real. It’s safe to presume a promotion would have been given if said wrestlers
were setting the world on fire. Someone had to get a fire extinguisher when it
came to McAfee. That’s what it takes.
All right, so that brings
us to tonight. It’s like the old days. SmackDown
has to come through and clean-up that stinker RAW left. With AEW’s ratings breaching a million, WWE simply can’t
afford to phone it in anymore. Let’s admit that there’s no “ratings competition”
if WWE stays on top. I get the feeling it gets personal if the numbers start to
match up. So far, from the early comments, it sounds like SmackDown is living up to its reputation. They kinda have no
choice. Not much is advertised for
tonight so we’ll just have to watch. Funny tweets get retweeted and as for “Likes”
well, let’s just see what we get first. Respect the mess SmackDown has to clean-up above all else. Ask if you’d do any
better.
See You in a Bit,
-Nicole Alexis (^_~)
