RAW Comes Through, Not Sure It Will Do the Job, Though...

A Good Monday to You, Enthusiasts.

How’s it going? Not too taxing I hope. As for the wrestling world, it appears to be a slow news day. The stuff going around doesn’t exactly grab me but there’s some news floating through. I suppose the most appropriate being that a date for Summer Slam has been chosen. August 22nd is the special day. All they need now is a venue. Early reports suggest that they’re interested in the West Coast but they might settle for somewhere in between. California tends to be persnickety about their rules and regulations. Somewhere in between may not be so much. We’ll have to keep an eye on it.

As for tonight’s action, well, RAW has a big job ahead of it. Backlash is not a huge PPV and it’s honest in being the follow-up to WrestleMania but RAW has been subpar of late, even for it. It has to prove it’s worth the 3 hours it shows for and perform the customary Go-Home duties.  Twitter speaks of a return of Jinder Mahal, perhaps the 3MB history can finally be addressed for story resolution. One of the tidbits circulating is that Drew McIntyre has some ideas for a feud with Mahal. It’s not a bad idea. I think it’s all too clear that wrestlers have to help themselves in WWE. Sticking with storylines already in play is a good way to start.

We all can see how WWE is trying to develop a sense of continuity. I’m not sure there ever was one. I’m not going to go revisit stuff from 20 years ago but in recent years or at least for as long as this blog has been operation continuity has been give or take. This year and some of the last, there’s been more of an effort to establish some sort of discernable story to follow but in terms of keeping it going and producing next steps we have yet to see an effective framework develop. SmackDown is definitely doing a better job maintaining a train of thought. Last week was downright juicy but I’ll get more into that on Friday. It being Go-Home week, it’s bound to be a cliffhanger or at least humorously so. But let me dial it back. Don’t want to set us up for disappointment but Go-Home is the time to step it up. We’ll see how RAW finishes. There’s a good chance SmackDown may have to clean up anyway.

In some news slightly to the right, I have a 2-parter of an article out breaking down our Lady Titleholders in Bianca BelAir and Rhea Ripley. On paper, it looks like BelAir will have an easier time of it but I could be wrong. Let’s see if Ripley manages to hold people’s interest. I’m sure the differences between WWE and NXT are making themselves felt now. Let’s see if she sees the writing on the wall and makes something out of nothing.

See You in a Bit,
