Survivor Series 2025 - SmackDown Fallout

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?

A happy Friday to you! So, there’s some big news circulating and some other business but otherwise a quiet day in the Wrestling World. Since I have a few things to say, let’s get into it, shall we? Here we go.

As many of you probably already know, Netflix is going to acquire Warner Brothers. That is huge. It marks the end of an era certainly. In a way it’s promising because I may have full access to the Looney Tunes Library through Netflix not to mention the Matrix franchise and a plethora of other content but the question mark that hovers for our world is how will both WWE and AEW exist under the same roof?

I suppose it’s too soon to say. I guess in theory it doesn’t matter. Both have to work with Netflix but it is an interesting set of bedfellows. I’m thinking they remain separate for the most part but will that allow Netflix subscribers to view AEW PPVs without extra cost? Hmmm…I’m not opposed to that. In that respect, AEW may have a leg up on WWE. Many aren’t happy about having to pick up the ESPN bundle to accommodate their WWE fix. We’ll see how that all plays out.

Speaking of AEW, the next round of their Continental Classic went down this past Wednesday on Dynamite and the main event was the Riders of Death showdown as Jon Moxley had to face his compatriot in Claudio Castagnoli. Many fans enjoyed this match and I didn’t hate it but it was a mess. You’d think Mox would have to get a transfusion at some point with all the blood he loses out there. My word. I was surprised how cool Castagnoli was with it. I would have caved just by gross out.

Regardless, keeping calm and focused may have been what allowed him to get the win. They blasted each other good and then, to show us all there’s no ill will, they along with the other Riders proceeded to post a backstage push-up session on social media while Mox explained to us the camaraderie that comes with saddling death. It’s the stuff of cult leader logic.

What I did notice was the absence of Wheeler Yuta. I think he commended Castagnoli from up top but he did not participate in the session. Neither did Daniel Garcia. I’m not sure if that’s a hint at what’s to come or if it was only for those in the tournament but I found it something to note.

As for execution, I think showing that they can keep to the philosophy of fair play amongst themselves does the job of cementing some respect. We’ll see if this becomes a point of contention in the future if/when they start to fracture. Some feel it could portend a sort of anti-face turn and…I’m not so sure. They can’t try to “kill” people for no reason if that’s going to happen or take out referees to prevent a tap-out. But I can support the Magneto mentality for them to a certain degree. Again, Magneto has the backstory to support his approach but what is going on in AEW that warrants “acts of terrorism”? The backdrop is a bit too accommodating. What is the grievance exactly? No pansies allowed?

If they do decide to semi-turn them, there would have to be a greater “evil” to counter them so…who would that be? The Don Callis Family? They don’t scare me. I’m just saying. AEW just doesn’t do Heels like WWE so, I’m not surprised that Mox is providing the fodder with his Riders of Death. Where’s the drama and conflict if everyone’s on the same side? They’re free to experiment but the point is to keep it interesting.

Nevertheless, if the inevitable deterioration is on the horizon, this setup is nice. I can appreciate the quiet before the storm. It does serve the Future well. Proceed.

Over in the WWE Universe, we finalize Survivor Series and I suppose set our sights on sending off John Cena once and for all. We can expect on tonight’s SmackDown, Ilja Dragunov to continue the US Championship Open Challenge. Solo Sikoa will let us know he’s not afraid of no Wyatt ghosts. Alexa Bliss will have a Little Ladies battle with Kairi Sane. Jade Cargill will keep up to speed with a go-round with Alba Fyre. Cody Rhodes will tell us what’s on his plate for the time being and we’ll see LA Knight and GUNTHER throw hands to be the one who retires John Cena. I have just one question…what happens if Cena wins πŸ˜‰

As you know, the unofficial watch party starts at 8pm PST. I don’t have to cook today so I’ll be all settled in…may have a little dessert is all. You know where to find me if you’re not going out and about. I know how to make the most of a night in.

See You in a Bit,

-Nicole Alexis (^_~)
