SmackDown Returns to London!...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?

Happy Friday to you. Well, this was a productive one, I’ll give it that. Had better ones and definitely had worse so, I won’t complain. As for the Wrestling World, there appears to be some movement on the horizon so, that’s something to talk about. For most, it’s stuff that was percolating so we’ll see what actually comes to fruition. Shall we have the chat? Here we go.

In the Realm of AEW, there are always many things going on but we’ll only talk about a couple. As I said last post, there was a showdown between Darby Allin and PAC on this week’s Dynamite and so I sat myself down and watched. It was an impassioned display on Allin’s part. He did get the jump on PAC and keeping him off-balance appeared to be the winning strategy as Allin did take the W in the end. A few commenters had the problem I’m trying to give suggestions on mitigating as PAC is a small tank and Allin is 45lbs so, how did that happen really? Well, PAC did help Allin out a bit. I’m not going to lie. It wasn’t the cleanest display and it lowkey demonstrated how much of a professional PAC is but Allin did all that he could to swing for the fences and I commend the effort. It was believable enough and he went in “knowing he had to be smart” so that was enough for me. It’s on Allin if he wants to work on better execution.

We also saw that Our Man Moxley took more of a backseat this time around. As the action played out, you could say the moment wasn’t about him and he respected that. Wheeler Yuta did intervene at the end but Allin was on so much of a roll that Yuta just ended up getting laid out. Then Allin smashed PAC’s previously injured ankle and there you have it. Allin has sent all the appropriate Riders back to hell. Where do they go from here? We’ll have to wait and see. In the meantime, the Don Callis Family start to ramp up their mayhem so I’ll check out what’s relevant to the Future on Collision.

However, the big news out of AEW is this Powerhouse Hobbs making the move to WWE. Nothing’s confirmed as of yet but the speculation is that he is switching teams. I can’t comment on how this plays out because I only know of the gentleman. I’ve only seen a tiny scrap of his work so, I’ll watch with the rest of us when this comes to be.

What I’ve been gathering is that most think this is a good move. Apparently, AEW wasn’t doing much with him and WWE has always appreciated the large ones so, there’s a place for him there. They may have to clean up his appearance a bit. WWE likes polished presentation and what I’ve seen comes off like he’s someone’s huge older brother with nothing else better to do than wrestle in his spare time so that will have to change. But I do remember seeing some promotional spots with him sporting glasses and gear while working on a laptop and something about that clicked for me. Looks like he can be fun and poke fun so, I’m open. I hope it works out for him. I don’t know if it lasts but I’ll give him a shot.

That brings us to the WWE Universe as we prepare for tonight’s SmackDown. It’s more tape-delayed action as they are in England for tonight and I believe Monday. This is looking like it’ll be a good show so I’m glad they have 3 hours to work with. We can expect, Carmelo Hayes taking on whoever thinks they got the chops to challenge for the US Championship. Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair will see what Giulia and Kiana James got. The reimagined Matt Cardona will see what’s still relevant against Trick Williams. Then we have some qualifying action as Drew McIntyre just can’t sit around with the Undisputed Championship. Someone has to try to take it off of him. So, we’ll see if Sami Zayn can even the score against Ilja Dragunov. Damian Priest will see if Solo Sikoa can play fair. Randy Orton will probably knock The Miz around. And Drew McIntyre will strut and preen a bit while he still can.

I have to make dinner tonight but it’s a simple one so I should be comfortable enough come show time. Start your process if you plan on playing along. Same time, same place.

See You in a Bit,

-Nicole Alexis (^_~)
