SmackDown Takes a Tour of Germany...
How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?
Happy Friday! There’s a lot going on stateside so, expect many of
us looking forward to a little escape. The WWE Universe gets another taste of
Germany as WWE does its European Tour so that will be a nice change of scene.
As for the Wrestling World, there’s not much that caught my attention but there’s
enough in play to have a brief discussion. Shall we?
We’ll start in the Realm of AEW as they ease into this “age” of a
calmer, gentler Jon Moxley. He took on Shelton Benjamin to see if Benjamin
could get himself a shot at the Continental Championship and though Benjamin
was the better wrestler, he just couldn’t get the job done in the end. You could
say he should have zigged when he zagged so it was the sort of loss where it
was understandable if he “kicked himself” afterwards.
Mox was sportsmanly enough to offer a handshake after but he wasn’t
completely clean in the match. He did go for the eye poke at one point so…how “Face”
he is, is debatable. I would also like to mention how when the Riders of Death
back up their comrades, Mox is often not around. I don’t know if this is to keep
focus on them and not hog the camera, so to speak but it can easily be
criticized.
Elsewhere, Darby Allin is looking for PAC’s blood at the moment. Allin
tracked PAC down backstage and demanded a match. PAC told him to piss off but
Allin doused him with the fire extinguisher and threated to smash his ankle in
a door jamb if he didn’t agree to the match. PAC relented and I suppose that’s
what we have to look forward to next week or on Collision.
The Riders rushed in just before Allin could apply any more
carnage but yet again, Mox was nowhere to be found. I bring this up because if
he is a Face now, shouldn’t he be backing up his crew just the same? Or will
this become a point of contention in the future? Are they just his lackeys? Is
lending a hand beneath him?
I don’t have a problem with it. I’m just asking because if this
is supposed to be what’s happening now, it’s kind of half-assed. Yet, if that’s
the point, then by all means keep going. Let the Riders build the case to revolt. However,
if this is supposed to be a more established character development, then he should
“lead by example” more. Matches should be executed cleanly and when there’s
trouble, he shouldn’t hang back and let the crew handle it. That would make him
a shitty Face and what’s the point of that unless that is the point. So, we
shall see.
At present, it doesn’t hurt the Future so, no real complaints
from me. I just hope they have a gameplan is all. As for Allin, keep up the
good work. I can respect the “don’t fuck with me” approach. We can start to look
past him being 45lbs. Which is all I was getting at.
Over in the WWE Universe, we have some news as it appears WWE has
been so kind as to lend out AJ Styles to TNA as they celebrate their debut on the
AMC Network. There will be other surprises but since he was one of their stalwart
stars, it was only fitting to bid them good luck. It’s nice to see the camaraderie.
In other news, let us send our get well wishes to Elton Prince of
Pretty Deadly. I was wondering where he was and apparently he had to get neck
fusion surgery, an unfortunate outcome for many of our players. Hopefully, he’ll
heal up nicely and be back to his cheeky antics with Kit Wilson in good time. Godspeed!
And so, that brings us to tonight’s SmackDown as we
prepare for some tape-delayed action. This evening we can expect Rey Fenix (aka
Yoshi-Libre) to break in Trick Williams who we can also call, after further review,
let’s say “Rick James’ nephew”. Carmelo Hayes will stand ready to take on any
takers for the US Championship. Alexa Bliss will try to check Giulia for the
Women’s US Championship. The Wyatt Sicks will make Solo Sikoa and his Bloodline
Juggalos pay for taunting their Fallen One in a 8-Man Tag. Randy Orton will grace
us with his presence at some point and we’ll see what that 3 Stages of Hell Match
is all about between Drew McIntyre and Cody Rhodes. I guess it’s about time
McIntyre got one, don’t you think? π
I don’t have to cook tonight so I’ll be nice and comfy for the
show. We’ll be starting at 8pm PST per usual. You know where it all happens.
See You in a Bit,
-Nicole Alexis (^_~)
