BackLash 2026 - RAW Fallout...
How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?
Welcome to another week. How did you like BackLash? I enjoyed it for what it
was, though it seemed to prompt more questions than answers but I suppose that’s
all right. That’s one tactic to maintain interest.
As for the
Wrestling World, there a few things I can touch on so let’s get to it shall we.
BackLash Fallout awaits!
Over in the Realm
of AEW, I took a look at the Title Match on “Fairway to Hell” the short Collision
show that they had right at the end of BackLash. PAC, even with help from the
Riders of Death, could not best Darby Allin this time around, evening out their
head-to-head at 2-2.
There’s a lot
that could go on from this point, so I’m curious. PAC opted for the unsportsmanlike
conduct and half tried to “kill” Allin by tossing him off the 2nd level deck onto
some set up and stacked tables. Allin only hit the top one but survived.
What caught my eye
is that both Claudio Castagnoli and Jon Moxley were absent so does this move on
PAC’s part have implications? It certainly could and personally, I think it should.
The summer will
soon be here and if the Future is going to go into effect, now’s the time to
start setting that up. Yet, how it actually evolves can go in any number of
ways. Just to look at this, are PAC’s actions something the Riders of Death
approve of, especially without success to follow?
Is Castagnoli’s
and Mox’s absence a counter-issue? How does Will Ospreay feel about this “shameful”
display? Looks like Ospreay and PAC already have beef so this may be something
that prompts Ospreay to rethink his allegiance with the Riders. Would such a
thing lead to a rift between Mox and PAC? There’s a lot of ways it could break
down and they should start playing with it. Shit doesn’t have to hit the fan
but we should start to see how there could be a mess down the line if these “issues”
aren’t nipped in the bud.
What I wouldn’t
do is go about things like nothing happened. Then I think the whole thing
starts to undermine itself. Then what’s the point? We just go along with stuff until
they decide to pivot? I guess. If AEW wants to classify themselves as a reasonable
alternative to WWE, that’s not the best move. It’s definitely something they
would have done in the past. I’m sure there are examples but I’m not doing that
research.
All I’m saying is
there is plenty of drama to be had at this juncture along with other people
just not liking those who ride death. They should start to fracture but just a
smidge. There’s plenty of time for us to witness the seam bulge before it
breaks. We’ll see what they do.
Over in the WWE
Universe, BackLash came and went and the general consensus appears to be good.
It was a solid PPV/PLE. And my matches of interest were 2 of the best on the card.
Seth Rollins came at Bron Breakker with a plan and we would not have expected
anything less. He’s one who has to think about it.
Even with the
little botch they kept the action moving and believable. I appreciate the fumbles
‘cause it keeps the action looking real. As I always say, real fights aren’t
pretty. As also expected, Paul Heyman ensured a win for his Vision and Austin
Theory and Logan Paul came out when the going got tough for Breakker and once
they got Rollins wobbling, the spears were issued and that was that. Rollins
doesn’t lose any face ‘cause he was done dirty and we know that we gotta watch this
Vision so, no complaints there.
Later we got the Asuka
vs. Iyo Sky match and it was a modern classic. However, it appears to have
implications ‘cause Asuka may have made the decision to allow the sun to set on
her career. She is in her 40s and that’s commendable for a female wrestler.
Though we have other veterans who can activate at will, it looks like Asuka is
preparing for the next chapter and I don’t blame her.
She proved to be
one of the greats and things are only going to get harder with the new school
coming in. I can respect her starting to bow out gracefully. The word going around
is that she may “take some time” to sort out some personal issues and that will
keep her out of action indefinitely. I’ll respect her privacy and wish her well.
Hopefully, she’ll be granted a proper retirement tour.
The other bit of news
that came from the show is the John Cena Classic. It’s a tournament that’s
supposed to introduce us to the new and solidify the old as they battle for a
new Championship and notoriety. The hitch currently is that we the fans choose
the victor.
Personally, I’m
in the camp where I think this should be adjusted for us to choose the competitors.
I think it’s best that WWE pulls the who wins/loses strings. The people just
don’t really know what’s going on enough to call those shots but our preferences
should be considered and respected.
We should have
some sort of say and a Tournament in Cena’s name is a good place to acknowledge
that. I’m all for it in that respect but we’ll see if they make the adjustments.
Also, we’ll see if this is on TV or some sort of YouTube aside. I’m not going
out of my way to watch this stuff.
And with that, we
prepare for the night’s RAW Fallout. We got a Saturday Night: Main Event
coming up on May 23rd so, this should lead into that. We can expect
the customary 6-Man-Tag as The New Vision lace up to take on the Street Profits
+ Joe Hendry. Brie Bella and Paige will face the Judgment Day to settle who’s
next challenger for the Tag Team Titles. Oba Femi will see who’s next on the
menu. And Roman Reigns will try to settle this issue with Jacob Fatu like a
gentleman. I’m not sure how that’s going to translate in WWE Universe terms but
we shall see.
This should be one
of the last early viewings so, get it while the getting is good. I know this
will be the last month for sure. The particulars have yet to fully congeal but
once they do, I’ll let you all know. In the meantime…
See You In a Bit,
-Nicole Alexis (^_~)
