SmackDown Stops in Spain on Its Way to Italy...
How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?
Welcome to the weekend. So, there are few things we can chat about.
Not exactly about the recent rumblings but we can touch on a few things there
as well. If anything, there were a few observations I’d like to reflect on and
then we can get into our tape-delayed action. You ready? Let’s do it.
We’ll start in the Realm of AEW as I was curious to see how Lio Rush
was doing with his new “unbalanced” gimmick and wasn’t I delighted to see him
going with the “Midnight Bomber” touch. This is why I always suggest humor. It’s
the sugar that helps the medicine go down.
I’m glad. I get what he’s trying to do but you gotta entertain first
and foremost and now I think he can just have more fun with it overall. Have a
blast freaking people out.
Elsewhere in the realm, glimmers of the Future seem to be presenting
themselves. The current in-house protagonist, Kenny Omega, had some concerns for
Will Ospreay. Omega understands. The Riders of Death get shit done. However…can
they be trusted? The question is left to linger as Jon Moxley entered to offer
Ospreay an ice pack and the entertaining unsettlement followed along with the
palpable tension.
Now, I had a mild debate over the term “entertainingly unsettling”
as opposed to “unsettlingly entertained”. Mainly because the former seems more
negative than the latter but I disagree. With entertainingly unsettling, yes,
you’re unsettled but there’s the connotation that you enjoy being so. Something
“bad” is made enjoyable, like a roller coaster. You can certainly say that Mox
when at full-tilt definitely has that sensibility. To be unsettlingly
entertained, I would think that the entertainment would be a bit tainted. I think
this would be more how you’d describe Lio Rush’s gimmick at the onset. And as
you can see, that comes off more negative.
I think it’s clear that many of us enjoy when things pop off and when
Mox does can certainly be debated. Yet, this ought to be a very slow burn. At present,
there’s nothing to “pop off” about but we did notice how PAC still doesn’t care
for Ospreay but he doesn’t let it interfere with Rider business so, there’s no
problem at present. Mox, PAC and Ospreay had themselves a Trios Match with a
triplet of highflyers and I found it interesting how Mox was the odd man out.
He had his ways of keeping people on the ground and left a little
teaspoon of madness for one of them at the end but that’s what comes with Our
Man Moxley. There’s nothing to fear as of yet but we can see how under the
right conditions, there could be great reason to become quite entertainingly unsettled.
Please, proceed.
Before we head over to the WWE Universe, I just wanted to pitstop in
the Kingdom of TNA as I heard that Fabian Aichner f.k.a. Giovani Vinci was
recently signed. Good for him! I felt bad about how the WWE Universe just wasn’t
interested. He’s not a bad wrestler but that’s the crux of this universe. It’s
petty and rude at times. Hopefully, he’ll be appreciated over there.
Now, in the WWE Universe, some more info came out on the Ludwig
Kaiser situation. What we know for sure, it seems, is that GUNTHER was who his phone
call went to. That’s who bailed him out. So, that should lowkey play into some
story in the future. Gunther should have him in his pocket.
As for the veracity of the story of Kaiser defending his girlfriend,
though. It’s sounding that is a bit of an embellishment, which isn’t surprising.
I’m thinking Kaiser and his lady-friend were probably sloppy. Perhaps both a
bit drunk and their elevator mate was naturally off-put yet he didn’t have to
say anything just as they could have waited until they got to the apartment.
Neither party had the best conduct but what’s done is done. Let us move on.
And so, that brings us to tonight’s SmackDown. They made a
brief stop in Barcelona on the way to Italy. There’s some concern going into
Clash in Italy as Jacob Fatu and Sol Ruca may be injured. How will that affect
the show? So far, there’s just speculation but as for this evenings offerings
we can expect Carmelo Hayes and Ricky Saints throwing down again. The Miz will
see if he can keep up with Axiom. Something tells me he takes the L since we’re
in Axiom’s native Spain. Rhea Ripley will talk a little shit about Jade
Cargill. And Cody Rhodes will share how he plans to deal with Gunther.
Dinner is already made so I don’t have to worry about that. I have a
nice bolognese planned for Sunday but that won’t be much of a problem. I won’t
be watching live. I’ll wait until 4pm if the replay is up by then and have a nice
Italian dinner in its honor. I’ll have my Matches of Interest up tomorrow. You
know, make life easy. Until then….
See You in a Bit,
-Nicole Alexis (^_~)
