Night of Champions - Match of Interest

 How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?

Here we are at Night of Champions and this should be an interesting night. Now, word has it that we shouldn’t expect too many surprises but that doesn’t mean there won’t be anything to hold our interest. You can view this as a sort of midterm. We’ll see who’s measuring up and who needs a rethink. Given that, I’m not too invested but I think we are all more or less curious about the same match so, let me just get to it.

So, King of the Ring. Will it be Oba Femi or will we have to endure Jey Uso? Personally, I’m fine  with Jey because of what many people think. It’s too soon for Femi. However, it doesn’t mean it couldn’t be done. Could he beat Jey? Certainly but should he…not so much.

The name of this game is generally entertainment and entertainment for the long haul. Giving the win to Femi now should indicate a gameplan. If it happens, let’s hope WWE Creative knows what to do with him.

As we’ve witnessed, many of a good thing has come to naught under the WWE orchestration. Is Femi doomed to be another one? I think too many remain to remember the failures. Given that, those who have a say probably also recognize the diamond in the rough Femi is. He proves a particular thing. Though he has been groomed for his position, they cannot dictate who the Crowd gravitates towards. For whatever reason, we like Femi. And so care should be taken.

If a clear plan hasn’t been established, it’s simply safer to go with Jey, despite whatever backlash. Jey is in more of a do or die position as Femi has only just begun. There’s essentially time in Femi’s case, it’s running out more in Jey’s. It’s these aspects that leads me to feel we should brace for “disappointment”. Yet, it will probably be “understandable” to a degree. Perhaps Jimmy Uso interferes? Maybe he drags in Jacob Fatu? There’s talk Zilla Fatu is set to sign if he hasn’t already. Does he debut to serve the Bloodline cause? Does Jey wrestle with a tainted victory or does he double down on Bloodline solidarity?

Say what you will, the story is most engaging here. Everyone else, for the most part, will  have to prove that they have one. In that respect, I think Ricky Saints has the most work to do. I was a bit worried for him from the start because of the obvious disadvantages. He’ll have to show that he brings something to any party. Trick Williams already has the Crowd’s interest. They chant “Whoop that trick!” just like they ever did. Saints gets lighthearted ridicule. It’s an uphill climb if you ask me. Let’s see if he earns his keep.

I’ll leave it at that. I think everyone else has a great chance to prove themselves and I hope that they do. This is the assignment. We’ll see who gets it and who doesn’t.

See You in a Bit,
