RAW's New Focus: Reminding Us That They Exist...

How’s Goes It, Enthusiasts?

So, we’re fresh from Game of Thrones and for some of us Endgame to return to what RAW has to offer and I have to say, I kinda agree with the sentiments floating around.  This stuff doesn’t do the WWE any favors.  They tell good stories.  Something the WWE hasn't done well for quite some time.  I’ve been saying that the WWE has to take advantage of these trends.  Like, take Game of Thrones.  The WWE will never compare but there are comparisons and when it wraps up, it would probably behoove them to try to pick up some of the fanbase, especially those who dig the violence.  The WWE is right up their alley if they can come up with some decent content.  But that’s the kicker, will they ever?  Sometimes they get it right but I’m sure the numbers they’re getting makes it clear they gotta up their games to some degree.  The crowd is just more aware.  It will take more to fool ‘em and keep ‘em interested. That’s just what’s happening.  Somehow, the WWE is going to have to keep pace.

Now, I’ve said in the past that they should probably consider making a wrestler’s record count just to help with the storytelling.  That way, perhaps someone on the roster has to maintain a certain “Winning Percentage”, like 75% win/loss record at the least to be in title contention.  They rig the game accordingly and that’s what determines who gets a shot.  This way people who would be in the hunt may not be sometimes because their percentage is off. Too many disqualifications leaves Seth Rollins having to get on a win streak in order to stay in contention.  And conversely, someone like No Way Jose could potentially have that shot at the Intercontinental Title because though he only had 4 dark matches, he won 3 and now has a good enough ratio.  Mini tournaments could be had to settle ties and those with only a few matches.  That would give us something to “believe in” so to speak.

Yet, if that’s not a desirable direction, they can piggyback off of GoT more and focus on the “alliances”.  The WWE already has its Houses and they could play off that.  The McMahon’s would resemble the Lannisters, of course with a touch of the Tagaryens.  You have the Flairs, the Harts, “The Samoan Faction” and so on and so forth.  They could embellish their storylines with politics, if they flesh it out cleanly.  Houses with ties to the McMahons would be generally viewed as Heels other factions would be easier to root for because they’d be viewed more as Faces.  The Samoan Faction would be a good example. Yes, the Dothraki comparison is clear but they can roll-up in suits or something if they want to change the image 😉.  The point is that there’s potential here.  Everyone who doesn’t have a family tie may have to jockey for position with those who do.  They could form their allegiances so that we could discern if they are Faces or Heels and their actions in contrast to these allegiances could better influence matches, feuds and the like.  For example, take Seth Rollins.  He’s done well on his own but as the Houses begin to consolidate their influence, Rollins may feel compelled to form an alliance.  Having relied on his own resilience for the most part, he knows he needs supporters to better help his cause.  Perhaps, since he’s so close to Roman Reigns, he seeks allegiance with the Samoan Faction.  So, not only when Reigns gets in trouble, Rollins may run out if The Usos, Nia Jax or Tamina get hassled. Yet, if he’s caught meeting with someone like Randy Orton, whose House is not as prominent but does have McMahon ties, the intrigues can begin.  Why are they meeting?  Is Rollins planning to defect?  Does he mean to betray the Faction?  It’s a start.  Those who choose to remain independent may be viewed more like Wildlings.  Generally frowned upon but can make their mark with honest work.  Maybe band together amongst themselves.  If the Wyatt Family ever re-forms, that would be a good example of that sort of thing.  There’s plenty to work with, sounds like they just have to sit down and hash it out.

In any case, while what to do next is debated, for tonight we have some Alexa Bliss action scheduled.  She’s going to inform us of who will be participating in the Ladder Matches for the Men’s & Women’s Money in the Bank contract.  Also, Rollins and AJ Styles will be getting into each other’s faces as will Becky Lynch and Lacey Evans. Gotta remind us who’s after the titles.  Fine by me.  Funny tweets get retweeted and as for Likes/Favorites, if they are golden, then they are golden.  Like and retweet with abandon!

See You in a Bit,
