Starting Over Are We?...SmackDown Is Strangely Fine with That...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?

Was I more or less right?  Well, it looks like they continued with a lot of surprises on RAW so, I guess I was wrong.  Kofi Kingston retained his title though I thoroughly enjoyed the back and forth between he and Seth Rollins during the main event.  These men are skilled in their trade so I can overlook the lack of size as they hold the titles.  If the smaller dudes can generally do this, outsmart or “outwrestle” their larger opponents, they can make their title runs far more believable.  We the Audience becomes savvier as time goes on.  As Creative lay their plans, they have to make sure the “winner” is able to sell the “win”. Finn Bálor does this well.  Even though he’s slight, he does come up with compelling offenses that make him winning over someone larger believable.  I don’t mind if he takes a Universal or WWE Title if he wins in this way.  If he simply is dubbed winner and the opposing party takes the fall, we will be far from impressed.

Besides that we got some call ups, Lars Sullivan made his appearance, I hope this rigmarole doesn’t wear too thinly upon him.  Lacey Evans finally got around to doing something and let Becky Lynch have one of her “Woman’s Rights” after Lynch cut her promo.  Nice way to announce herself.  We all know that once someone has the prize, a new chase begins.  Looks like Evans will get a shot to show what she’s made of. We also got a pseudo send off as Dean Ambrose went out to perform his last match on RAW only to get laid out by a very rude Bobby Lashley.  Here again is hope for Ambrose remaining active on the roster because why send him off like that?  Why would Ambrose agree to go out like that?  I feel the same about Kurt Angle losing out at WrestleMania. That might have been Angle’s last ‘Mania but it’s not his last match.  I’m thinking the same goes for Ambrose.  He’s up to something, just not sure what.  I’m saying he’s going to SmackDown or something.

The final point I want to make about RAW was Sami Zayn’s return.  He’s a case, in my opinion, where they should simply keep someone a Face.  His promo last night was poignant.  He made himself a Heeled-Face by admonishing the “bad fans”.  We have to admit that this genre can attract an unsavory element and that a lot of those who watch, watch for all the wrong reasons.  Like NASCAR fans who wait for a crash.  ‘Tis naïve to believe these people will disappear off the face of the Earth but it was nice to see that Zayn has a way to deal with them and he made his point quite intelligently.  I’m glad he’s back and I hope he continues to check those who deserve it.

Anyway, on to SmackDown.  Looks like the juicy morsel for tonight comes in the form of a face-off between the Hardy Boys and The Usos.  The SmackDown Tag Teams came very correct at WrestleMania and I’m glad they’re going with this vibe.  With years and years of arbitrary, wrestling action circulating, it doesn’t hurt to demonstrate that Skill is involved in this form of entertainment.  You simply can’t hop off the couch and do this.  One may have a knack for it, but proper training is necessary.  To see masters of their trade in action is always a delight.  We may see a bit of a Clinic on Flashiness tonight.  We also will get a proper celebration of Kofi Kingston’s historic win.  Now given how this win was so “hard pressed” the question inevitably becomes how long will this last.  Well, the same rules apply to SmackDown as they do for RAW.  Now, given the tease with a showdown for all the marbles against Seth Rollins, you would think this would last at least until Money in the Bank or something.  I only say that because when that contract gets won, everything is different after that.  Speaking of shake-ups, we can expect that next week as well so, keep an eye on the “winners” and “losers”  tonight.  That should give a good indication of who goes where.

In other news, the podcast was done and it was a lot of fun!  I hope I get to guest spot again.  For those who are curious about how my delivery sounds in real time, feel free to check us out.  Harold Vaz is an acquaintance of mine and we just found out that we have a love of wrestling.  Naturally, the collaboration ensued.  It was fun.  He’s funny, as is his partner in crime, Michael.  They're types you have to listen to so this is a good vehicle for them.  Looks like they do this sort of thing when they can so go ahead and favorite them if podcasts are your thing.  As for us, we read and write.  Regardless, funny tweets will get retweeted and as for Likes/Favorites, we’ll keep it a little looser but we still look for excellence.  We just know the big day has passed.

See You in a Bit,
