RAW Does Its Job and Has TLC Fallout...

Happy Monday, Enthusiasts.

How are you? Did you catch TLC? It’s actually worth a watch. There were certainly some decent matches last night.

So, let’s get right to it and just accept that Kevin Owens and Roman Reigns were flat out match of the night. See, you have to leave room for the impossible to happen. Not that I was expecting this match to underwhelm I’m just glad that they kept it simple and executed the blatant story. Reigns is out of his mind. Owens is Owens. Kaboom! Owens fought and triggered Reigns to take it there and I couldn’t have imagined a better result. So proud of these guys. Now they have the task of continuing to maintain excellence. Thankfully, they have the Royal Rumble to prep for. Gives them some incentive to find their baseline and keep to it. But I’m fine with them just basking in the success for this week. I think that’s allowed when you manage to “make a table” out of someone as Reigns did or are speared into one as Owens was. That’s the magic, my friends. You can’t orchestrate it. You get out of the way and let it happen.

So, of course I have to comment on the Inferno Match. I think how it was staged was great but the concept of The Fiend doesn’t fit. Here’s the biggest problem I had with The Fiend. He is not supernatural. He wasn’t even scary. He’s essentially “crazy” so to give him an Inferno Match where the stipulation is to set the opponent on fire just obliterates the supposed kayfabe. You can’t set a co-worker on fire. I know that Inferno Matches have happened but I never bought the Undertaker either because of this aspect. Right there, it isn’t real. And quite frankly, I don’t see the need for wrestlers to endanger themselves in such a way. I just want to see staged ass-kicking. I don’t need anyone maimed or burned. That’s ridiculous. I want everyone to wrestle another day. WWE has to accept that societal standards have changed. If they want people to half believe it, it’ll have to be more believable.  Yet, that doesn’t mean there can be no more Inferno Matches. As it stands, the only one who can feasibly have one is Finn Balor. He’s of lore so he could potentially have “the power”. The Fiend is the ravings of someone’s deranged mind. That has no supernatural power. Doesn’t mean he can’t be fucking crazy but he cannot summon flame. This match simply gets written off as delusion which leads to the conjecture that is why The Fiend was “murdered”. I don’t think Wyatt really knew how to maintain the gimmick and we can safely assume WWE didn’t have any ideas. With the bad ratings and corporate feedback, I think Wyatt had to face facts and accept that this idea is better as B-Movie Horror.  Who knows, it may find a new life when WWE Studios gets up and running again. Let’s see if he puts together that 90 minute script.

As for the Ladies, they were solid but perhaps a little uninspired. Hopefully Reigns and Owens gets everyone’s creative juices flowing. They have reset the bar. Charlotte Flair returning was kinda flat due to the rumor spreading online. Someone spilled and the surprise was a little ruined. But it wasn’t exactly a bad thing seeing how they stuck to the standard title change. The women have to start brainstorming. They’re coming off bored and that’s to be expected but I hope the roster is seeing the writing on the wall. They have to do something about that. They can’t expect creative to help. They have to see how they can create their own magic. They have the chops. They just have to think about it.

As for everyone else, well, I bet they feel like they’re behind after Owens and Reigns laid it down. That’s what I was kinda saying about Drew McIntyre. He and AJ Styles had a run of the mill match which kinda proved my point about how McIntyre may think he’s better than he is. He’s got an agenda and that’s fine. You need one but can he actually carry it out? Looks like WWE will give him some time to figure it out.

And so, that brings us to tonight’s action. RAW will have their usual fallout. We may have a rematch or two.  We’ll see how everyone digests what happened last night. One thing we can more or less expect is that things will be changing in the WWE Universe. Those who get it will be getting more action and those who don’t we’ll be seeing less of. Wrestlers must sell themselves or we won’t buy them. Let’s see who survives. Funny tweets get retweeted and as for Likes let’s take it easy. Last night was a lot but for the most part in a good way. There hasn’t been this sort of buzz since the Royal Rumble at the beginning of the year. Hopefully, that’s a good sign for next year’s. Let’s see what they got before we get our hopes up.

See You in a Bit,

-Nicole Alexis (^_~)
