SmackDown Let's Lesser Known Performers Get a Chance...

Happy Friday, Enthusiasts!

How’s it going for you? Good, I hope. Well, there isn’t that much to chat about but that hasn’t stopped me before. Let’s see what’s going on, shall we?

We’ll start outside the WWE Universe as word is that CM Punk could return to AEW in a couple of months should they care to have him. Seth Rollins has been “keeping it real” in regards to Punk and many other wrestlers have been concurring but at the same time, I can’t help but smirk a little. It seems a little all too perfect. Which is why I suggest that Punk play into the myth of himself. With just the right amount of tongue and cheek, his return anywhere could be quite amusing. We’ll see who makes it interesting.

In the WWE Universe, people are clamoring for a Brock Lesnar vs. Gunther match, ASAP. Many are hoping for WrestleMania 39 but I think WrestleMania 40 would be more fitting. It allows for proper set-up and all that. I’m not opposed to a showdown. It could be the type of match that brings some validation to the Industry in general. I expect it to be scripted all the same but these guys get what needs to be done at its core so they could very easily fool some people. I’m totally down.

What appears set for this year’s WrestleMania is Cody Rhodes vs. Roman Reigns and this week’s segment on RAW between Rhodes and Paul Heyman was presented to specifically redirect our attention away from Sami Zayn. After all, Rhodes is Wrestling Royalty as we were reminded. It hits differently than the first generation wrestlers. Now we have the weight of history to give the whole thing gravitas. Reigns is obviously a “Duke” of some sort given his family’s association with WWE goes back decades. So the implications on paper should be loftier.

Not to downplay Zayn’s “Common Man’s Plight” of an angle but that is probably why it’s going down at Elimination Chamber rather than at the biggest show of them all. It should be reserved for the WWE Universe’s “Elite”. Zayn will have to continue to make himself, which is not impossible. It’s all very promising at present. It appears WWE has begun to care again about its content. It’s something that has been lacking for quite some time from a creative perspective. It’s comforting to see. Let’s hope it continues.

That pretty much brings us to tonight’s SmackDown. The Headliners appear to be the Tag Team Championship match between the pairing of Braun Strowman and Ricochet against the Usos. There will also be some jockeying for a shot at the Intercontinental Title between Santos Escobar, Karrion Kross, MadCap Moss and Rey Mysterio. They’re going to have themselves a Fatal-4-Way to settle the matter. There’s also some rumors floating around that Ronda Rousey may make her return tonight. We’ll have to watch and see if there’s any truth to it. Fine by me.

See You in a Bit,

-Nicole Alexis (^_~)
