RAW Fallout - Bash in Berlin 2024
How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?
Enjoying the day off if you have it? Bash in Berlin has come and
gone and there’s some other news making the rounds. Are you up for the brief
discussion? Let’s get into it.
Let’s just get Bash in Berlin out of the way. I enjoyed it. I
have to say the German Crowd was the most interesting part of it. Not that the
PPV was bad but it wasn’t the most thrilling, shall we say but it was a solid
show nonetheless. As you can see, no real complaints outside of I just wasn’t “wowed”.
Most seem to have come around to CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre being
Match of the Night, though quite a few are pushing for the Randy Orton vs.
GUNTHER match. My vote is definitely for Punk and McIntyre. It was a lot more
fun that I thought it would be and I like how Punk stuck to the assignment. Let
McIntyre overexcite himself, so to speak, and just took advantage of the rules.
He also let McIntyre have it too which was good to see since we’re
a little uncertain about Punk’s ability to go. He looked good out there and I’m
beginning to feel we’re starting to get our money’s worth. Glad to see he’s not
dead yet. Word is that Punk is done with McIntyre for now but I wouldn’t be
surprised if McIntyre decides to keep it going. He does well when he’s nursing
a grudge.
As for Orton and Gunther, it wasn’t the most compelling match but
it was well played. I suppose I was asking for too much when hoping for an
Orton win but if that’s to happen, that can easily happen stateside. I don’t
mind Gunther getting his accolades on home turf. It was quite fitting now that
we see how the German Crowd does. Don’t really want to see them pissed off
anyway.
As for Kevin Owens vs. Cody Rhodes, many commenters seemed a bit
underwhelmed by their match and I have to agree. I was expecting a lot more out
of Owens at least. Never really got the feeling that the Title was ever in jeopardy
of being lost. Not sure if that has to do with “sticking to the story” of Owens
not being deserving of the shot or Owens just being jetlagged but it wasn’t the
best energy for starting the show.
No real notes for Rhodes. He goes out and does his job every time
so I’m not mad at him. I was just expecting more of a fight from Owens or at
least some bullshit, hijinks to get Rhodes destabilized. But no. Looked like
Owens went out and took his L.
I will give an honorable mention to Rhea Ripley, though. My
mother got a kick out of how she pinned Liv Morgan in the Mixed Tag match and I
couldn’t help but feel that was distinctly for the German Crowd. Hear they tend to fancy
the big, strong, dominant types 😉 The
Mixed Tag was a lot of fun and a nice infusion of fresh energy into the show.
Kinda gave it a shot in the arm so good on them on making their match count.
On Sunday, back stateside, NXT had their No Mercy PPV and the big
surprise was the debut of Giulia. Many of the male commenters were taken by her
lovely looks. I’m not sure what to think just yet. I’ve heard plenty but don’t
know much about her and tend to wait and see with these types so we’ll see if
she lives up to the hype. Nevertheless, she’s officially in the mix now.
And so, that basically brings us to tonight’s RAW. We’ll be without Bronson Reed since he tested
positive for COVID. The pending time-off requests will have to wait, it seems.
Along with Bash in Berlin Fallout, we can expect to see Shayna Baszler take on
Zelina Vega. We’ll get a Mixed 6-Man-Tag between American Made and Alpha
Academy 2.0. Damage CTRL 2.0 will take on the Unholy Union to get a shot at the
Women’s Tag Team Titles. And Ilja Dragunov will see if he can keep up with Dragon
Lee or has the patience for Dominik Mysterio in a Triple Threat for a shot at
the Intercontinental Title.
We’ll have to watch to see what else is in store. The unofficial
watch party is set for 8pm PDT. Find me on X/Twitter or Blue Sky if you’d like
to play along.
See You in a Bit,
-Nicole Alexis (^_~)
