SmackDown Lays Down Some New Tile for Elimination Chamber...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?

Happy Friday! Well, there’s not much to chat about this week. Well, there is but not for me. But I think we can piece together enough for a short conversation. Shouldn’t take up too much of your time. Shall we get to it?

So, we’ll just take a brief stop in the Realm of AEW ‘cause they’re going to Australia this weekend for their Grand Slam PPV. Should already be there actually. Uncle Edge had a plan to execute against Jon Moxley and “The Right Hand” Marina Shafir. Uncle Edge and Jay White cornered Shafir and cut the briefcase off of her and now have the Title in their possession. This ruffled all of Mox’s feathers and rightly so. I thought the job was pulled off well and serves its purpose of advancing this ordeal. Step by step, as it goes.

A lot of AEW fans don’t get this melee but I find what I see entertaining. It doesn’t seem too many seem to comment but I haven’t heard anything praising the Death Riders though, the truncation to “D-Riders” appears to be taking. Has MJF referred to them as “Douche Riders” yet? I think someone should. That may be what’s needed to keep this interesting, a little ridicule. I would just guard against “killing someone” as a response and no “death matches” either. Yet, whatever it is should lead to some sort of grueling or high-stakes match.

AEW tends to celebrate being the promotion for the wrestling and the problem with the Death Riders Saga may be too much talk and not enough action. Though, plenty of beatdowns happen outside the ring, I think and I’m just conjecturing, some more matches need to happen to hold the wrestling enthusiasts’ interest. Has Shafir had any matches? Perhaps she needs to start making statements on the Ladies’ side opposed to running with the boys all the time. The primetime soap opera style works in the WWE Universe but AEW should stand itself apart by being more match focused.

Perhaps, that’s where the motivation should reside until the “real stuff” starts happening. There is a bit of time to stretch this out. It may be best to get the Riders in matches…similar to likes of the Bloodline under Solo Sikoa. I think they have the Trios Titles, right? Maybe Shafir should go for one of the Lady Titles and maybe they should try to recruit.

All I’m saying is that something needs to be done to make this more palatable for those who don’t care where it’s going. To be honest, they should be pleasantly placated just to keep them in the dark. Mox going “too far” in the future should lead to rifts in the group and roster that leads to the “real stuff” happening. Stuff can still happen outside the ring but the drama should be shifted back to matches. I feel that way, Mox can start to slip out the back, if you know what I mean. He’s entertaining but he’s no technician. He’s more of a brawler. His anti-social loaner ways can eventually leave him to “his own devices”. But, per usual, these are just suggestions.

Over in the outer galaxies of the WWE Universe, Ricky Starks made his debut in NXT. Word has it that there may be some trademark paperwork that’s still being processed to make this a done deal. Fans picked up on how Triple H avoided naming Starks but we all knew who he was talking about. As I said before, I only know of the man so we’ll see if he lives up to the hype in the meantime. Perhaps it’s time to get cheeky and play with spelling. How’s Rickey Starks? Rickee Starks? Ricky Stärks? There are options, is all I’m saying. It’s just not worth renaming him. We know who he is.

And so, that brings us to tonight’s SmackDown. We have the next chapter as Solo Sikoa returns to keep the Alternate Bloodline going. Naomi will see if she can get past the slippery Chelsea Green. We have a very intriguing Triple Threat for a spot in the Elimination Chamber with Jacob Fatu, Damian Priest and Braun Strowman. Then, Nia Jax will see if she can reclaim her the Championship from Tiffany Stratton. We got a couple weeks until the Elimination Chamber so they should be putting those final pieces into place.

It's Valentine’s Day so, I’m not expecting as big of an audience as usual. That jock demographic is probably really busy and the partnered smarks are preoccupied. It’s just us comfortably single types and those who love to share in the mayhem. Of course, there’s everyone else but we’re trying to keep on the positive side of things. Why wallow when we can entertain ourselves? Let’s have some fun! Unofficial watch party is at 8pm PST. Stop by if it’s just another Friday.

See You in a Bit,

-Nicole Alexis (^_~)
