SmackDown Tries to Find More French Speaking Friends...
How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?
Glad to see the weekend? I know I am. Well, there are some interesting rumblings going on in the Wrestling World. A couple have my eye particularly so, this shouldn’t be that long of a post but they should be decent talking points. Shall we get into it? Let’s.
The first order of business appears to be the rumor of WWE on some sort of quest to end AEW. I keep seeing conversations and posts on the subject and to me, this seems a little ridiculous. If it were 20-25 years ago, no doubt. I wouldn’t be remotely surprised. WWE was more petty and spiteful then. But nowadays, I’m not sure what the point is.
I think we can safely say that WWE “won” whatever battle for supremacy there may have been. Other promotions have come and gone and the smaller ones remain smaller and less popular, AEW included though I appreciate how it has become the alternative. I still can’t bring myself to watch regularly but I’ll sit through a good match and of course I feel I should witness the Future. The competition doesn’t really nip at WWE’s heels so, why would they care? I know greed is a powerful drive but I think the WWE coffers are full enough to relax for the time being.
I feel this idea of attempts to undermine and otherwise end AEW is more fan/commenter whimsy than has any real substance. They’re just not enough of a threat at present and WWE shouldn’t be worried about keeping it that way. Like the Tagaryeans of Game of Thrones/House of the Dragon fame, the only real threat to them are themselves. Paranoid fixation on the possibility of being dethroned only does them in. They should remain focused on producing a stellar and entertaining product and they’ll remain on top for the foreseeable future. They should encourage healthy competition. Keeps them sharper π
Besides, AEW needs to be up and running for the Future. They’re very important to it. It wouldn’t be half as fun if it didn’t exist. Yet, as They say, all buzz is good buzz so if people are talking that’s something.
In the WWE Universe, the rumor mill keeps churning out speculation that Naomi may be pregnant. Having been called out so suddenly with an “injury” and the talk from those more in the know being somewhat hush-hush people are doing as they do and are putting 1 + 1 together and coming up with 3.
Judging from what I’ve seen in recent months, I would say Naomi is probably on birth control but that doesn’t always stop life from forming. It does find a way but all I’m saying is that I have not seen anything that would have tipped off her being with child. I would be so happy for her if that’s the case, though. I know she’s been handed her own set of challenges in recent years and she’s in a position where it’s hard to say if a family is in the cards so, if it presents itself and it’s something she wants, why wouldn’t I be happy for her?
Nevertheless, I don’t have enough other than rumor and speculation to go on at present so, I’ll just let the woman be and allow her to “recuperate” for whatever it is that may ail her.
And so, that brings us to tonight’s SmackDown. The Tag Team Division has been quite commendable of late and so we can expect to see DIY see if they can humble the Street Profits. While Fraxiom sees what the pairing of Carmelo Hayes and The Miz have to offer. Something tells me Hayes will be doing a lot of the work there. Alexa Bliss will try to avoid getting actually squashed by Piper Niven and Drew McIntyre will explain why he had to obliterate Cody Rhodes. We all know in McIntyre’s mind, Rhodes had it coming.
The unofficial watch party will start at 8pm PDT. I’m back on cooking duty so I’ll be a bit distracted but I’ll be watching. We’re in the technical No Man’s Land so, I don’t blame you if you decide to do other things. But for those who got nothing else better, you know where to find me.
See You in a Bit,
-Nicole Alexis (^_~)
