SmackDown Fully Embraces Elimination Chamber...and Spreads Seeds for WrestleMania...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?

It’s kind of a sad end of the week as a lot of Dawson’s Creek fans mourn the passing of James Van Der Beek. It’s too bad but we could see he was fading fast. Cancer is absolutely no joke. It’s always worse when it takes one of the good ones and Van Der Beek appears to have been one. Godspeed, good sir.

As for the Wrestling World, there are various bits of chatter but all I’m hearing concerns WrestleMania. We’ll get into that but first let’s visit the Realm of AEW.

They’re preparing for their Australia PPV and this week’s Dynamite was quite heavy with the Riders of Death and the Don Callis Family. Callis is growing on me to be honest. I know nothing of his career but I kinda like his Vegas Uncle Persona. It definitely works as a heel. Besides that, I don’t have much to comment on. The Future appears to be slowly inching towards us but in the meantime, these 2 crews seem to be having fun roughing each other up.

To be honest, the throwdowns were fairly clean but I’m not complaining. There’s time to get “dirty”. I also took a look at the Championship Match between Kyle Fletcher and Tommaso Ciampa. It was a solid match, no doubt. I’m glad Ciampa is getting some screen time. He’d never be given the consideration in WWE. It’s just how it is. We like our players big and mean and I’m not even sure he’s mean.

Yeah, he’s got the “Psycho Killer” monicker but he doesn’t scare me. I still see Engywook. That’s why I was calling him “Engywook III” ‘cause I figured he’d be like his grandson or something. So, that right there was always the problem. Nothing against his in-ring skill, it’s just the WWE Crowd would never care. We’re not wrestling fans. We’re WWE fans. I lot of would-be stars find that out the hard way. Regardless, all the best to him. That match was awesome.

As for the WWE Universe, there’s a lot of talk about WrestleMania ticket prices. We all know they’re exorbitant and no one can really blame anyone for opting to pay rent and put food on the table instead, especially given the current state of affairs. That reality has apparently forced TKO to relent a bit by offering a limited time 25% discount. I think if anyone is really trying to attend, they’ll probably wait until showtime to see if they can score slashed tickets just to get asses in the stadium. That’s the smart way to do it.

I’m supposed to attend this year but those plans have yet to get confirmed. We’ll see if it manifests. Same thing was supposed to happen last year so, there’s a good chance I stay home but at the same time, because of that, there’s just as much of a chance that I get accommodated for last year’s disappointment. Fingers crossed.

In the meantime, we continue to prepare for Elimination Chamber. We saw AJ Lee return to action on this week’s RAW. Will we get another pseudo-surprise? The feed says maybe. In the meantime, we can expect Rey Fenix (Yoshi-Libre) to take on Trick Williams. I hear that’s a good one. Lash Legend and Nia Jax are looking to snatch those Tag Team Titles off of Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky. We see what Jordynne Grace has on Jade Cargill as they box for the Women’s Championship. There will be some more Qualifying Matches as the Ladies let Alexa Bliss, Giulia and Zelina Vega go for it while Jacob Fatu, Cody Rhodes and Sami Zayn have at in the Men’s.

Just remember that the action is on SyFy while the Winter Olympics are on. I’m making dinner tonight but it’s simple so I’ll be good to go by showtime. Get yourselves settled in and let’s enjoy this long weekend.

See You in a Bit,

-Nicole Alexis (^_~)
