SmackDown Closes Backlash

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? I’ve definitely been better but I can’t complain. So, what’s going on in the Wrestling World? Well, it that much but there’s some speculation going around. Let’s get into it, shall we? Well, it looks like the inevitable is in the works. MJF appears to prepping for his jump to WWE and that seems the next logical step. I have no problem with this. The issue appears to stem from the fact that MJF’s contract isn’t up until 2024 so...talk is a little early. It’s fine to kick around but we’re not there yet. Nevertheless, this may be the time both sides start to flesh out how to cleanly make this transition.  In my mind, the first feud is naturally with The Miz. The similarities are obvious and should be addressed right from the start. Maryse should be the real defining difference. MJF, as of now, has no female counter. If that remains the case by the time of the acquisition, that’s the main thing The Miz has over on him. At least Miz has the hot wife and what d

RAW Starts the BackLash Fallout...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?   So, BackLash actually wasn’t a bad PPV. The 2 weak spots were to be expected. Not much going on with Omos and Bobby Lashley. And I see MadCap Moss trying out there, but he and Baron Corbin don’t have much going on either. That doesn’t mean these guys don’t have anything to offer. They may just have to be a little more involved in their direction. Creative clearly doesn’t know what to do with them.   As for everyone else, they came and did their jobs. Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair went out there and boxed. Looks like Charlotte submitted a Time Off Request as she took the “L” in “injury”. They sold it so no complaints. Edge and AJ Styles put on their own clinic and added a compelling member with Rhea Ripley. Surprised that Cody Rhodes got the win over Seth Rollins, though. Not that it was a bad match it’s just…not sure where they go with it. Rollins winning allows for a more interesting story. Yet, Rhodes’ mental health is important. Perhaps they

So, Who's Curious About BackLash?...

Anyone? Anyone? 😉   What’s Up, Enthusiasts?   I hope all is well. So, it’s the PPV no one cares about. I’ve seen more interest in paint drying. Nobody gives a shit about tonight. I won’t lie and say I do but I like watching this stuff. You see it’s kinda my thing. What else am I gonna do? Everyone is like, “Anything else…”. Jeez.   Well, I’m not sure if WWE can do much about this. Most of the general attention is drawn to more important matters. We have the crisis in Ukraine and everything is fucking expensive. People are probably considering dropping Peacock Premium just to save the few bucks for gas. I really don’t blame people for not caring. This is why WWE should just toss a lot to the wind and try to have fun with it.   We can all see that they’ve sort of strangled themselves with focus primarily on the bottom line. Everything is painfully scripted and you’ve got wrestlers who are not actors trying to pull it off. That tends to be what sorts the wheat from the

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?   So, it’s the Go Home Week for BackLash and yeah, not too many people care but that doesn’t have to be a bad thing. The Wrestling World in general seems to be having a slow news day so, let’s just get into what’s happening? That cool?   To start, I did my periodic check-in on AEW just to see how they’re coming along and I’d say they’re embracing what they are and I think they should continue to. They are definitely becoming the WWE alternative, which is fine. The only real difference I could discern is that they seem to be having more fun. WWE is still a cleaner product, but you don’t need me to tell you that they come off uninspired. AEW is far more willing to experiment and have fun with things and it appears to show. The rabid fans help too. WWE fans are always looking to be impressed but that’s the precedent WWE put into motion for itself whether it realizes it or not. It’s boiling down to a matter of preference and I still prefer WWE, but I wo

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? Well, I hope. It is Monday, after all. So, there’s some talk going around. Do you all want to get into it? Yeah, well why not. So, the NXT releases may greet us every season according to the rumors floating through. This last set must be Spring’s Set. I suppose that means Summer is next? Again, I don’t often know who many of these people are so, it’s no big deal to me but harder core fans are getting vocal about this. Personally, I don’t really see the a big problem with this as long as the talent pool gets properly weeded out. What WWE wants to avoid is being too arbitrary. They want potential stars to feel they can become a potential star. If it’s a never-ending revolving door, that’s not going to happen. People have to be given an ample shot. Given time to improve and show everyone what they got. We all have to accept that most won’t be of “superstar” status. That’s just life. We all can’t be at the top but if they are continually finding the best of t

How’s This Monday Treating You, Enthusiasts? Well, I hope. It is just the start of another week. I won’t presume it’s any more wondrous than the last. So, wrestling-wise there isn’t too much to chat about but enough, I think. I can ramble on about at least 3 topics. How does that sound? Let’s get to it. So, most of this will revolve around the WWE Universe. Word is that Mustafa Ali may return to TV soon. What makes this interesting is his status with WWE. Having requested his release and being denied, we wonder what he may be made to do and how willing he may be to do it. I really hope that if this is true, some sort of truce was reached. News like this is never a good look and I don’t know why WWE would like to have news like this being half-way true. I understand being a “Heel Company” but there has to be a cheekiness to that stance. It has to be more comical than credo to live by. Shit like this fuels calls for unionization. Not that it’s happening but you can see how it could be

Don't Care About Backlash? SmackDown Tries to Change That...

Happy Friday, Enthusiasts!   How’s everyone doing? I hope you’re doing well for the most part. You know, no true grievances. So, there are few things we can chat about. Nothing is setting the “world on fire” but it’s something kick around. Shall we get to it?   So, let’s start outside of WWE. AEW and New Japan have joined forces to set up the first “Forbidden Door” PPV event. I understand that this is historic, but it’s ultimately lost on me. I’m more partial to Sports Entertainment so as everyone clamors at the news I simply note that people find it interesting. It’s not that it’s not the big deal people say, it’s just that it doesn’t mean much to me. I’m glad that the wrestling industry is evolving. It has to if it is to survive, but I won’t be going out of my way to purchase this PPV. Yet, if I get word of any awesome matches, I’ll take some time to watch it just to broaden my wrestling view. Nothing wrong with that. But I’m not going to lie and say I’m trying to become a co

A Merry Monday to You, Enthusiasts! For those who celebrated, did you have a good Easter? I just took it easy. I’m more spiritual than religious. I tried out a new Pho restaurant to commemorate the day. As for the news of the Wrestling World, meh, it’s been kinda slow in my opinion. People are talking about stuff but it’s nothing that interests me. It’s kinda how wrestling fans appear to be in general. WWE is in its No Man’s Land and AEW is flirting with New Japan. People love chatting about “Forbidden Door” stuff but it’s something I only glance at. I try to keep abreast but I’m not dying to watch any of it. I understand my interest in Sports Entertainment. I’m not the best connoisseur but I’m a steady one.  In any case, I’ll keep this brief since there’s not much going on. WWE has some questionable yet typical things planned for tonight’s RAW. There’s going to be a 24/7 Title Double Marriage. I’m going to try to view this with my silly goggles but my eyes may just roll anyway. Kev

SmackDown Shows Up to Do Its Part for BackLash...

A Good Friday to You Enthusiasts.   This week, that actually applies (^_~) I hope this is a good Easter weekend for you. As for the Wrestling World, there are some rumblings. Not everything really interests me but it’s circulating so, I’ll chat about it. Why not.   So, the first bit going around is the end of this week’s AEW Dynamite. Apparently, AEW pulled a sort of WWE move by having Satnam Singh ruin a Samoa Joe win. AEW says it’s to gain popularity with the Indian demographic. I find this interesting. Mainly because I never thought AEW was any better than WWE. AEW was just doing their own thing, not necessarily a better thing. I’ve said that’s really the only difference. All these gals/guys are just doing their shit as opposed to WWE’s. Neither one is getting any Emmy nods.   The only thing WWE really has over AEW is their production values. We all know WWE is better funded. And with this WarnerMedia and Discovery merger in the works, AEW may have some corporate pressu

So, Got Some Time for Backlash?...

How’s It Going Enthusiasts?   Feeling good this Sunday? I have to say, not feeling too bad. So, let’s get right to it shall we. Let’s break down Backlash a bit.   As usual, I’m not going to get into every match, though I could, this should be a succinct PPV, I’m just going to look at the ones that have my interest. We’ll see who surprises. To start, I like the idea of the Lumberjack Match between Damian Priest and The Miz. Though they’re going for it again, they’re at least trying to mix it up, so good on them. The name of the game is entertainment in the end. Not a good idea to make things boring. I don’t know who came up with it but I’m just glad they’re thinking. If they’re really smart, they let this be a fun one. Let it get a little silly, playfully ridiculous but keep to the point. The goal should really be leaving cheeky smiles on our faces. Let’s see if they let loose.   Then the RAW Ladies in Asuka, Charlotte and Rhea Ripley for the Triple Threat come to mind next.

SmackDown Cooks Up Something Worth "Going Home" For...

A Good Friday to You, Enthusiasts!   This one had some twists and turns for me but they sat me right back where I always am so, let’s see what’s going on in the world of wrestling. There are a few rumblings going around.   The first that raised an eyebrow is news that there may be some dissension within the AEW ranks. The word is that Cody Rhodes, Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks, Matt and Nick Jackson haven’t been seeing eye-to-eye on too much recently. It’s all talk and speculation but those close to the situation don’t appear to be surprised. The only thing that comes to mind with this development is what if things get so bad that Rhodes considers returning to WWE.   The thing about reality is that it gets you to think. Anything is possible but once you put something into motion and it manifests how to maintain it becomes the next hurdle. The reality of the venture of AEW is developing. As with anything, as one gets better acquainted with circumstances, one can more easil

How’s Everyone Doing? Looks like there’s news about the WWE Universe, doesn’t it?   I don’t know much about this Matt Riddle.   I’ve heard his name bandied about and was willing to see what he’s all about but it looks like some residual Karma has come back around to thwart all that.   I’m not going to speculate on what’s true here I’m just going to say that everyone better take notice.   If you have sketchy stuff in your history, make sure you make amends with it before you go on a public push for something.   What goes around does come around.   I think just about everyone can agree.   So, whoever made this allegation either has beef or was wronged.   It all depends on how long ago this happened and what exactly remains unresolved.   Is this someone who feels jilted or is this someone who feels used?   There is a difference.   The former was dismissed, probably without much notice or cause.   What makes this more the other party’s problem is the inability to let it go.   If Riddle s

BackLash Offered More than Expected. Can RAW Keep Up?...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? Happy Monday.   So, who got to see BackLash this past Sunday?   Well, I have to say the Greatest Wrestling Match Ever was certainly epic.   I love that Edge has returned and has brought all his knowledge of working on TV with him.   He’s proving the benefit of having a Love of the Game.   Not to say Randy Orton didn’t do his thing.   He’s proving that the better caliber the opponent, the more you get out of him so, these matches are proving to be win-win.   It’s serving as a glimmer of hope if you ask me.   I hope everyone on the roster is taking notes because these may be the predecessors for matches of the WWE future. Yet, before we get too ahead of ourselves, plenty held to current WWE form.   Asuka’s and Nia Jax’s match was basically tossed out for a rematch tonight on RAW and the fact that Andrade and Apollo Crews had their match on the un-promoted Kickoff show gives you a sense of where Andrade’s heading since he picked up the “L”.   He must not b
