Since RAW Held It's Own, Please Enjoy a SmackDown Christmas

Image
Merry Christmas, Enthusiasts! I hope it’s going swimmingly and that you have what truly enriches you.   As for tonight, it’s similar to last night.   We tune in to see if the SmackDown roster suffers from double duty.   I would have to say RAW didn’t let it show.   Nattie handled her match against Ronda Rousey letting her cockiness be what does her in.   And in a bit of a surprise, Baron Corbin displayed quite a bit of improvement in his loss to Seth Rollins.   I find the development promising because he could prove a fine foil for The Authority and a formidable Heel opponent for any of the Faces that go up against him.   There could be a lot of fun in the future.   I hope the WWE continues to set him up well. As for tonight, we’ll just see many of the main players who had to work the earlier show.   Shane McMahon will attempt to drive some sense into The Miz as he makes his appearance on MizTV and it looks like Daniel Bryan will show up somewhere, possibly to sit with C

Yeah Well, It's SmackDown's Turn Tonight!...

Good Evening, Enthusiasts! So, I had a hell of a time trying to stream RAW last night so, I’ll be catching up when I can later.   Hopefully the Gods are kind and allow ample streaming for me tonight for SmackDown 1000 .   The WWE does seem like it will somehow last in some shape or form for eternity.   I can’t help but admit that I too am getting old and I started watching when I was in high school.   It is older than me and it may very well, outlive me.   It’s kinda humbling when you think of it.     So, naturally the night will be filled with festivities.   The old school Evolution with Triple H, Dave Batista, Ric Flair and Randy Orton are set to reassemble.   The UnderTaker is gonna suit up for some reminiscing.   And there’s actually going to be a couple World Cup qualifying matches for the Crown Jewel event.   We’ll see how they cram this all into 2 hours. As for Crown Jewel, as more information comes out on this slain journalist, I would find it more and more politi

A Good Tuesday to You, Enthusiasts! So, RAW was fun in a very experimental sort of way which I found refreshing.   You know if you watch this stuff long enough, you begin to pick up on the patterns.   It was nice to see how they’re taking this interim time, meaning since we have a bunch of exhibitions on display currently (hard to classify Evolution just yet) they’re taking advantage and seeing what works and what doesn’t.   Lio Rush hyping Bobby Lashley via mic during the match was a great example.   Thought it was going to annoy me and it may do just that for some but I was brought around by the end of the match.   The same goes for the Tag Team action with Bobby Roode & Chad Gable dancing with The Ascension.   The Ascension’s shtick is actually starting to land.   It was nice to see.   Remember, I just call it like I see it.   If someone changes my mind, all power to them.   I love being proved wrong.   If I’m wrong, let me know.   I don’t need to be “right”.   I just see

Oh Yeah...Wasn't There Some Sort of "Super ShowDown"?...

A Good Weekend to You, Enthusiasts! So, I’m sure many of you already know what went down at the Super ShowDown but since it came on at like 2am, I wasn’t about to get up and watch, especially since I’m on vacay.   But…since I’m on vacay, I do have some time to sit down and watch so, that’s what I’m gonna do.   At 7pmPDT I’m going to sit myself down and give it a gander so, if you haven’t seen it yet or are just interested on my take for some reason, go ahead and play along on the Twitter.   ‘Tis an exhibition so, I’m not too concerned with outcomes or matches, I’m just going to see if it was “worth it” so to speak.    Anyway, tweet if you’d like.   I know everyone’s doing their own thing so, I’m not expecting any one to drop plans on a Saturday night but if you’ve got nothing to do, feel free to join the fun.   I’ll be prefacing all my tweets with “RE: #WWESSD –” because I know it’s all a done deal, just throwing in these 2¢.   Join the fun if you'd like. Enjoy Your Ni

Looks Like RAW Was Too Busy to Mess Things Up. What a Load Off for SmackDown...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? Well I hope.   So, RAW didn’t disappoint.   I would have to say it was a solid Go-Home show.   The appearances of note were certainly Triple H and Shawn “HBK” Michaels together again along with the Brothers of Destruction in Dad (Kane) and The UnderTaker.   Now, what I liked here was something that I found lacking with Finn Bálor when they first experimented with unleashing “The Dæmon”.   Granted these gentlemen have more experience but Bálor isn’t a spring chicken.   What Dad and Taker did was based on presentation.   They sold their fantastical entrance and though we know it’s all hocus pocus, they sold it enough that we bought it more or less anyway.   With Bálor, I’m still not buying it but that doesn’t mean it can’t be done.   I don’t want the gimmick dropped but it should be retooled a bit, brought back down to Earth.   The first attempt was great theatrically but I didn’t feel Bálor met the set-up.   Perhaps to start, this alter ego should adher

Yeah, RAW Is Here to Mess Stuff Up. Leave It SmackDown to Actually Get Things Done...

Greetings Enthusiasts! How’s this Tuesday faring for you?   Well, last night was actually kind of feisty, especially with Liv Morgan getting her dome rocked by Brie Bella.   We all know it was a bit of a botch but Morgan was tough.   Looks like she got evaluated for a concussion but it sounds like she’ll recover.   I missed that moment but it’s all over the wrassling sites. As for the ring action for RAW it was palatable.   Naturally, we were geared for the main event but I’m sure people liked seeing Finn Bálor and Bayley out there.   I don’t know if I’m ever gonna get Bálor but I respect his following.   He’s got some spunk for being out there regardless of being one of the runts of the litter.   He’s got moxie.   I’ll give him that.   As for the main event, with The Shield versus Baron Corbin with The Authors of Pain and the newly formed Dogs of War in Braun Strowman, Drew McIntyre and Dolph Ziggler on the sidelines, as to be expected it did eventually become madness as

There's the Cell. Hear There's Gonna Be Hell in It...

A Good Sunday to You, Enthusiasts! Today we have Hell in a Cell to feast on and I have to say, I’m a little curious.   Didn’t think I would be but the Go-Home shows served their purposes and got me good and interested in what happens.   Now, all they have to do is deliver.   So, do you think this night will be worth our $10 or will it be another day when we wonder why we keep watching?   I get the feeling we’ll keep watching. In any case, it’s hard to call the match order.   The Kick-off Show is on as I type and I would think, considering what’s on offer, I would think the New Day vs. Rusev & Aiden English will probably get kick off duty.   Then…maybe Drew McIntyre & Dolph Ziggler take on Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins.   Rollins and Ziggler have been solid and I think they would be a good match to set the tone of the evening.   Give everyone a nice baseline to equal.   Then, I’m thinking maybe Jeff Hardy vs. Randy Orton. This may go on later since Hardy is advertisin

Just Another Day SmackDown Has to Clean Up the Mess, Never Mind HIAC...

How’s it Going, Enthusiasts! So, RAW covered its tracks and even was fairly palatable last night.   Even Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns closing had some bite.   Wasn’t expecting it at all but was glad to see it.   We’ve all seen our share of lackluster PPVs, this time around we may just get our money’s worth. For tonight, SmackDown can focus on set-up and hopefully get us nice and jazzed for Sunday.   It’s not impossible but I would say they might want to consider adding some more crackle-pop to the mix.   Though RAW can be nonsensical, it tends to be exciting just because you can’t usually figure what hijinks will actually ensue.   SmackDown , usually tasked with having to bring order and sensibility to the mayhem by default, can often feel a little lackluster.   It can feel like going from a frat party to a Super Bowl barbecue.   Both are good times in their own right but definitely have different tones and crowds.   They need to light up the Go-Home shows a little more.

SmackDown Makes Sure There Are No Loose Ends to Begin With...

Good Tuesday to You, Enthusiasts. Well, I can’t fully comment on RAW since I had connectivity issues galore but given what I did see it seems that the WWE is in a place where it usually is, trying to come up with new ways to feed us their offerings.   Now, I could be more derogatory here but I don’t see the reason, especially seeing how they’ve served up worse on the regular before.   Nowadays, I would say they’re really trying.   I see people really putting an effort to be presentable and engaging.   Does it always work?    No.   You have to liken the WWE to something along the lines of your high school or college football team taking Drama Classes.   These guys and gals aren’t generally actors.   They’re more or less athletes and half the time you get some who are charismatic.   The rest, have to work on their presentation.   That’s what we get each week.   Some guys have got their shtick together others are still working on it and each week they take a new crack at it.   We’

It Can Only Be Expected that SmackDown Will Pick-Up RAW's Slack...

Always do 😉 Happy Tuesday to You, Enthusiasts! So, RAW was a little cleaner this week.   Could be because the WWE is trying to shop around its product to get “For Your Consideration” eyes on it.   Well, we all know that this product is far from Emmy worthy but some of the documentaries may just cut it.   If that’s the goal, could we get some better real-time content in the future?   SmackDown moving to FOX next year could help that as well.   Let’s keep our fingers crossed. As for tonight’s action, we’ll be paced as I’m sure the more exciting tidbits will be dropped during the Go-Home shows.   So, we’ll have Becky Lynch and Charlotte go at it, not sure why.   Aiden English and Lana will dance with Jimmy Uso and Naomi…not sure where Rusev is.   Maybe he’ll support from ringside.   Come up with the save?   I don’t know.   Paige will oversee the contract signing for AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura’s scheduled throwdown at Money in the Bank.   Someone’s bound to make a state

Why Would SmackDown Apologize? We're Usually the Only Ones Who Make Sense...

A Good Tuesday to You, Enthusiasts! So, I have to say that it appears Creative is getting tired of hearing it and actually sat down and fleshed out a show.   RAW actually had the future in mind with this Money in the Bank build and I couldn’t have been more delighted.    I’ll continue to keep my expectations low yet, I hope this isn’t a trend that fades.   It’s nice to see there is a thought process being utilized.   Look forward to seeing more of it.   I’m actually feeling anticipation.   I want to know what happens next!   I’m not sure I’ve ever felt that way about this stuff.   Could it be the “new normal”? Aw, I feel that’s too far already.   Let’s dial it back.   So, tonight, we’ll see how SmackDown seasons this meal as it has to embellish not so much overtake what’s in play.   They’ll do this with their qualifying MITB matches with Jeff Hardy taking on The Miz, not sure what’s that’s gonna look like but I get the feeling Hardy takes it…The Miz may take it back, though.   Ch

A Good Tuesday to You, Enthusiasts! The Shake-Up is in full effect and so far, I’m not unimpressed.   I don’t know much of this Drew McIntyre but he at least looks intriguing for a Scottish specimen anyway.   I was kind of expecting to see Charlotte since she has certainly demonstrated that she can dominate if she so pleases but I am glad Natalya is getting some due.   She can wrestle but I don’t know how to gain her fan appeal.   Hopefully, just displaying her talents will get her respect but, it’s hard to say.    I’ll be the first to say this whole thing boils down to a popularity contest and her fans tend to be niche.   The alliance with Ronda Rousey may help but we’ll see.   Friendships are made to be broken in the WWE.   Speaking of Ronda Rousey, I have to say that my suggestion of starting her off with Sonya Deville took splendidly as they both flipped the script and “fought”.   Well, it was exaggerated sparring but an interesting change-up nevertheless.   Does that mean

SMACKDOWN'S Gonna Be So Ready, They're Gonna Have a PPV to Warm-Up...

Happy Tuesday, Enthusiasts. May you enjoy it with tacos!   So, RAW continues to make more sense than usual so, I’m just chocking it up to WrestleMania madness.   Expect it all to deteriorate back into chaos come the  RAW fallout show .   Yet, I will say that The Miz may be on some sort of passion project because I’m not sure if you all caught it but, he took a pretty blatant jab at the concept of Kayfabe by calling out Creative and indirectly management on the supposed obvious conclusion of Triple H and Stephanie McMahon winning their match against Ronda Rousey and Kurt Angle.   Now, granted it was more to sell the joke of Angle not coming back next year as opposed to a push for creative rebellion but it did add bite to the segment.   With  an off-handed comment, that match suddenly became null and void and the Triple Threat between The Miz, Finn Bálor and Seth Rollins became the unofficial main event and I’m fine with it. Now, to be completely honest, any smart Enthusiast wo

Wait, SmackDown's Got FastLane First then WrestleMania...

But after that, it’s on! 😉 Good Evening, Enthusiasts! So, RAW continued to make sense, more or less and to everyone’s shock and surprise, Roman Reigns, yes, Roman Reigns cut a clean, solid promo.   I’m still not sure it happened but there’s proof so, it must have.   It could have been a stand-in but, as far as I could tell, he managed it.   Supposedly, it was a bit of a shoot because Brock Lesnar didn’t show but I’m not so sold that wasn’t on purpose.   I think it’s all a work but we’ll see. As for tonight, SmackDown is in my hood of Los Angeles at the Staples Center.   So, I’ll be kinda “live tweeting”.    Action-wise, we’ll see how John Cena will get himself a ticket to WrestleMania. Guess I don’t mind if he’s there.   Naomi will give that sassafras, Ruby Riott something to think about. Sami Zayn will see if Baron Corbin wants another “ginger beer” and The Usos will start lighting us up with the New Day as we gear up for FastLane and then WrestleMania.   It should be

Good Evening, Enthusiasts! Last night was dare I say it, a night full of wrestling!   Yeah, I know!   Been a long time since they got to basics, huh.   Yes, Seth Rollins set off to earn some street cred by besting both the likes of Roman Reigns and John Cena in an impressive 1-hour and 5-minute showing in last night’s Gauntlet Match.   He hung in there and it was entertaining.   I wasn’t looking to change the channel once.   It was a commendable effort.   Needless to say, Braun Strowman came out and took about 20 minutes to decimate The Miz in the end but, we’re all kinda fine with that.   This Elimination Chamber may just be fun one.   Let’s keep our fingers crossed. As for tonight, Smackdown is gearing up for Fastlane along with WrestleMania so, Benjamin, Gable and Associates will battle in a #1 Contenders match against the New Day, we’ll see how that goes.    AJ Styles will contemplate his upcoming Fatal-5-Way and the Riott Squadd want to show the SmackDown vets the old-fol

A Good Tuesday to You Enthusiasts, Well, I’m just as shocked as many but RAW is actually starting to make some kind of sense.   I don’t know what to say.   We were left with a cliff hanger with Finn Bálor and Seth Rollins sure they vanquished Bray Wyatt. Looks like everyone’s gonna be in that Chamber.   I’m coming out the 38 th  ðŸ˜‰ In any case, the WWE continues to take a brief tour of Central California as they park in Bakersfield to keep the party going.   Fastlane is what SmackDown is focused on though, word on the street is that due to low ticket sales, members from both rosters will start showing up at the PPVs.   Gives us more incentive to watch.   I can see that.   I’m watching anyway but that would be more interesting.   They could have inter-brand beefs like with the faux Game of Thrones bit they did for Survivor Series.   People took the bait.   They love the sigils on my blog.   What can we say?   It’s a phenomenon.   Caught me up.   The WWE could certainly add a

SmackDown Is Never Not Ready to Go!...

How Goes It, Enthusiasts! So, RAW was RAW last night, though that wasn’t a disappointment.  Far from it, actually.  The Ladies in Asuka and Sasha Banks kept the momentum going for the Women’s Division with a great match that had Asuka break The Boss with a submission hold but both ladies performed wonderfully.  The rest of the night had its ups and downs but with the Female Royal Rumble a success, there appears to be some fresh blood injected into this WWE air. Now, SmackDown has to keep the party going and it looks like it plans to.  Apparently, Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon will be looking to the roster to elect the SmackDown’s “Top 10”.  From these chosen, the title matches and overall booking will be dictated.  SmackDown stars are not allowed to elect themselves, is one of the stipulations.  Everyone will have to state who they deem worthy.  Could be interesting. As for tonight’s offerings, looks like we’ll be getting some Wrestlemania starters as AJ Styles and Shin
