Looks Like RAW Was Too Busy to Mess Things Up. What a Load Off for SmackDown...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?

Well I hope.  So, RAW didn’t disappoint.  I would have to say it was a solid Go-Home show.  The appearances of note were certainly Triple H and Shawn “HBK” Michaels together again along with the Brothers of Destruction in Dad (Kane) and The UnderTaker.  Now, what I liked here was something that I found lacking with Finn Bálor when they first experimented with unleashing “The Dæmon”.  Granted these gentlemen have more experience but Bálor isn’t a spring chicken.  What Dad and Taker did was based on presentation.  They sold their fantastical entrance and though we know it’s all hocus pocus, they sold it enough that we bought it more or less anyway.  With Bálor, I’m still not buying it but that doesn’t mean it can’t be done.  I don’t want the gimmick dropped but it should be retooled a bit, brought back down to Earth.  The first attempt was great theatrically but I didn’t feel Bálor met the set-up.  Perhaps to start, this alter ego should adhere more to the “story”.

Dad and Taker kept it simple and intimidating and it worked.  We wonder a little about how they got in the ring but we don’t really have to care.  We’re sold enough on that these gentlemen are agents from Hell ascended here to do just what their moniker suggests, destroy!  This is getting harder and harder to sell as we collectively become more aware.  I’m not sure how Bálor is going to develop but, if he’s going to take this mystical position he’ll have to somehow become more convincing.  Not impossible but certainly no easy task.  Sticking to the constraints of a story may help ease some of the heavy lifting.

Anyway, as for SmackDown they don’t have to do any clean-up this week but they do have to keep the momentum going for this Super ShowDown.  So far, all that’s advertised is that Becky Lynch has a surprise and The New Day want to try a new recipe.  Outside of that, it’s anyone’s guess.  Well, all they need to do is keep the party going.  We’ll take ourselves a gander and see if they keep up the pace.  Funny tweets get retweeted and as for Like/Favorites let’s see if we become so inspired.

See You in a Bit,
