RAW Performs the Ceremonial SummerSlam Fallout...

Image
How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?   So, a little spent, are we? Yeah, I know most of you are drained from CM Punk’s return. I just kind of had my fill of wrasslin’. Not for forever, it’s like being full at a buffet. It’s like there’s plenty more and I’m just stuffed. And now, I’m trying to make room for RAW . Some may come back up 😉   Before I get to that, let’s go over SummerSlam for a minute. A lot of people didn’t like it. They loved Becky Lynch’s return, hated Bianca BelAir’s squash. No one minded Brock Lesnar showing up. People thought Goldberg’s match was a waste of time. Edge and Seth Rollins delivered but everything else got yawns. Doesn’t bode well for RAW’s ratings.   I’ll say this. It wasn’t the greatest PPV but they have definitely presented worse but as for the year, SummerSlam was the lamest one thus far. Yet, in saying that, there were only 2 bad matches: Goldberg vs. Bobby Lashley and Jinder Mahal vs. Drew McIntyre. Everything else was decently executed but not

As Is Customary, RAW Will Have MITB Fallout...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts?   Well, Money in the Bank came and went and you know what…it was a solid show. I would say all the matches worked except for the Women’s MITB match, which is a little disappointing because they tend to be the least wrong with WWE generally speaking.   I would say there’s a lot to contribute to this. The Women are subject to a lot more social scrutiny whether anyone likes it or not. Did you hear how the crowd soured any time Natalya or Tamina had a shot? Oi, that’s what I’m talking about. The crowd definitely wanted someone “cute” and “fresh” to win which are standards women are always subjected to. These have a basis in grander social issues that we can’t expect WWE to remedy. Besides that, what may be the problem is that the Ladies may be friendly in real time so it’s hard for them to cut loose come show time. This is where a Vision becomes necessary. I don’t doubt the talent but everyone needs to work on their motivations as characters. There was

SmackDown Aims to Make a Reduction for Money in the Bank

Happy Friday, Enthusiasts.   You can color me vaccinated. Not that it matters that much but I got my last shot today and so far so good outside of a little arm soreness. Hopefully, that’s the worst of it. Anyway, we’ve got a few things to chat about in the wrestling world. Let’s knock it around, shall we.   So, Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins legalized their union. They are now Mr. & Mrs. Congratulations to the young family! I got a good feeling about them. They appear to be together for the right reasons and I think they’ve already passed the 2 year mark in terms of being an item so, there’s a good chance it lasts for a least a good while. May it be until death do they part but you know, I’m not going to be surprised if something more realistic transpires down the line. Let us just wish them well.   Not too surprisingly, Roman Reigns redirected focus back to kayfabe by starting to make outrageous claims about how awesome he is. I love a deluded heel. That’s entertainmen

Hell in a Cell Is Old News! It's All About Money in the Bank, Now...

Image
How’s This Monday Going for You, Enthusiasts?   I hope it’s not too much of a drag. At least it’s coming to a close, right? So, Hell in a Cell has come and gone and it wasn’t bad, per se. It wasn’t “must see” by any means but I don’t feel my time was wasted. This is life in the WWE.   Let’s start with the match of the night. For me, it was Bayley vs. Bianca BelAir. Bayley has really come into her own and really sold her side of the match wonderfully. BelAir brought her special talents to the night too as she simply destroyed Bayley on a ladder. Regardless of who you were rooting for, that move was hard to deny. That’s the sort of display that resonates in the WWE Universe. We can’t help but take note of an honest ass-whooping. BelAir proved she can dish one out. Noted.   Alexa Bliss and Shayna Baszler weren’t all that bad until the “mind control” was introduced to pull in Nia Jax. Oh boy, where to begin. Again, moments like this are my case and point regarding suspending di

SmackDown Comes Through to Lay the Street Markers So We Can See How to Get to TLC.

They’re looking out for our safety 😉   A Pleasant Friday Evening to You, Enthusiasts.   I hope things are going well for you. You know, as well as they can be. So, there’s actually some interesting “news” floating around. Let’s get right into it. The first thing that’s of interest is the fact that Keith Lee and Otis among a few others have been “ordered” to return to the Performance Center for additional training. I can sort of see why. Everyone named is of a larger physical comportment than most and I think they have to work harder to ensure that themselves and others aren’t injured. That’s a lot of weight moving around. A false move could actually be fatal. I don’t see the harm in them cleaning up their games. They have to show first and for most that they’re professional out there. I think it’s a good sign if it’s true. A standard of excellence needs to be maintained. The one thing WWE has got going for them right now is that it is chock full of talent. If that starts to get

Well, It's Monday...Is It Still Worth Watching RAW?...

A Good Monday to You, Enthusiasts. How’s it going?   Has the stir crazy set in yet?   To be honest, I was a little too loose last night and so I am paying for it now.   Let’s just say this is one of the times I’m thankful I can work from home.   In any case, I along with some of you are probably wondering if it’s even worth watching tonight’s RAW because the WWE has no idea what to do at the moment.   The talent can’t act well enough to do fully scripted episodes but with the action without context, it’s hard to validate taking the time.   It’s a bit of a conundrum and it’s one that the WWE has to solve or they’re not going to have too many fans left.   Now, I don’t expect an immediate mass exodus but understand what I’m really saying here.   So far, it’s becoming a little too clear what the WWE’s weaknesses are.   There’s more than the loss of fans at stake.   They have to reestablish the brand.     At the moment, they are looking amateur at best and that doesn’t help in t

Oh Yeah...Elimination Chamber. I'll Take a Look at That...

How’s Everyone this Friday? Good I hope.   So...we have the SmackDown Go Home Show for the Elimination Chamber and I have to admit, I’m not sure what to expect.   Not that that is anything new, really it’s just…well, I’ll say this.   I do appreciate that this PPV is giving some of the less pushed players a shot.   I think that’s promising and I think everyone should take advantage of the attention.   I can’t say viewership will be great but perhaps they should try to play it like last week’s (2/29) Saturday Night Live.   John Mulaney hosted and I get it, he looks like your tax accountant.   You don’t think it’s going to be a great time but he’s actually hilarious and that show was one of the more solidly funny episodes in a while.   I just had to give it to him.   So, if I’m scheduled for Elimination Chamber, I’m trying to go at it like that.   Expecting no one to care and then making everyone who missed out wish they watched and take the up-tick in views later on as word of mout

Okay, That Was That. SmackDown Leads Us into Elimination Chamber...

How’s It Going, Enthusiasts? Who caught the Super Showdown?   Well, it felt a little phoned in if you ask me but it wasn’t all bad.   I think Humberto Carrillo and Angel Garza snuck in and took match of the night as everyone else struggled to establish some sort of relevance.   That’s just kind of the state of affairs.   I don’t fault the performers here.   It’s clear that the vision is hazy for this product currently so, nights like Super Showdown tend to expose what’s working and what’s not. Whether anyone likes it or not, we have to accept that Brock Lesnar certainly established himself and that may have been the one clear thing about the night.   Ricochet didn’t seem qualified to be in the ring with him and that was my point my last post.   I see he’s a talented athlete but fighter?   Different animal.   Here, perhaps they can lead into an Aleister Black confrontation?   I hope that’s one of the eventual endgames.   And that doesn’t mean Ricochet can’t one day learn how

How's SmackDown Gonna Come Up With This One?...

Happy Friday, Enthusiasts! How’s it going for you?   Mine worked out better than I thought it would, I can honestly say that.   Anyway, we’ve got a little bit before the Go-Home Shows for TLC and surprisingly enough, RAW has been doing a solid job of entertaining of late.   I’m a little shocked.   I don’t want to get too ahead of things because this may be the best of it but if I didn’t know better, the WWE may actually be establishing a train of thought.   I know.   It’s hard to digest.   But someone is starting to actually think about the presentation of this mess. This week’s RAW was good about tying off its ends this past Monday and so that leaves SmackDown to match and/or up the ante.   Unfortunately, I’m not sure that it can do that with what it’s offering.   I don’t have a problem with Roman Reigns and Baron Corbin; they probably have to get used to each other anyway so all they have to do is stay loose and have fun.   You know it’s clear that though The Fiend is p

So, What Does RAW Got!

Greetings Enthusiasts! How’s Monday going for you?   Well, I wouldn’t be surprised if you’re not exactly up for RAW tonight but it is the Go-Home Show for Survivor Series yet, given what’s advertised, you wouldn’t think it.   Apparently, Seth Rollins is slated to face Andrade and The Viking Raiders are set to square off with Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder.   The draw here is that the Tag Team Titles are on the line.   Not exactly what you would call “must see TV” but hopefully, that’s the ploy.   With the anti-climactic finish to Hell in a Cell still fresh, the WWE has to show that it does have a clue about what time it is.   Currently, AEW is simply pleasing viewers more than the WWE.   I wouldn’t say their content is all that much better but they definitely are having more fun with it and that in of itself is way more entertaining.    The WWE roster is looking like it’s out there working which is rarely good for entertainment.   No one wants to see it looking like a complete c

Welcome to SmackDown's HouseWarming...

A Good Friday, Enthusiasts! And it’s not even a Holy one 😉 So tonight, we witness the first SmackDown on FOX making the new era official.   To usher us in, it looks like “The Rock”, Dwayne Johnson will be gracing us with his presence and rumor has it that Randy Orton is trying to orchestrate a match with him for WrestleMania 36 and I’m strangely fine with this.   Yet, what we may not have considered, is whether that match will hold up in this current atmosphere.   Naturally, many may just marvel at the spectacle but we have to admit, it’s been some time since The Rock has actually wrestled and if you’ve ever strolled down Memory Lane and looked back at some of the Attitude Era matches, you may be surprised at how dated the material may look.   I don’t doubt these 2 as performers though.   If this goes down on the greatest stage, we shouldn’t be disappointed. There’s also word floating around that Finn Bálor is heading back to NXT.   I hope that this is temporary if it is tru

So, Stomping Grounds Was...Something... RAW Now Wants You to Look at Something Else!...

Image
A Merry Monday to You, Enthusiasts! So, I wouldn’t say that Stomping Grounds was a disaster but it definitely wasn’t what I was expecting.   But, it wasn’t all bad, to be honest.   Though, notice must be taken at how the Kick-off Show match for the Cruiserweight Title was the best match of the evening.   “Hijinks” appeared to get in the way of most of the show action.   This is too bad because it was clear that people were trying out there but I don’t know…maybe Management was trying a bit too hard on this one.   Hopefully, they realize this and bring this back to basics.   So tonight, we have the Fallout and there should be plenty.   Word is that the plan is to set-up a Mixed Tag Match with Lacey Evans & Baron Corbin against Seth Rollins & Becky Lynch at Extreme Rules.   Now, last night’s main event was one of the more cringe-worthy matches of the night due to this angle.   I personally feel that wrestlers’ real relationships should be kept in the Promos.   It makes f
